"North Jersey Notes"

My Only Hope's high-energy performances are their trademark...the emotion that poured into the instruments, into the lyrics, into the riffs - reflects back into their audience. Between their trendsetting styles through their music and their ambition, MY ONLY HOPE has the power to take over. - Aquarian

Bio

They call it America's armpit. They make jokes about the highways, the refineries, the smells and the girls. But Jersey has blown open. Hard.

Through the gateway that launched the careers of breakthrough artists such as Thursday and My Chemical Romance comes the latest breed of New Jersey chaos - My Only Hope. Spawned in 2003, My Only Hope has built up their fury while keeping their feet planted firmly in their roots - drawing inspiration from the metal, emo and punk scenes that rose around them while lashing out at the homogenous landscape mirrored by the relentlessly mediocre scene. Disappointed by the increasing blandness of emo and the disappearence of metal, My Only Hope banded together and combined unbridled emotion and a darkly kinetic energy to create a blend of rock and roll that recalls the heyday of metal and the mayhem of punk.

Led by the engaging and dynamic showmanship of tattoo artist Russell Kelley, My Only Hope's live show embodies the spirit of danger that made rock and roll synonymous with disaffection and rebellion.

And the NJ scene is starving for it. Hall shows are filled to capacity with kids seeking something fresh, something loud, something unlike anything else out there. An angry army of guitar explodes around the backbone of pulsating percussion and melodic basslines, blending the aggression of old-school metal with the catchy, anthem-like songwriting of today's punk stalwarts. Hardcore kids are joining with the pop-punk kids, the metalheads with the screamo crowd, fists in the air and singing along. Suddenly factions within are irrelevant; all that matters is that My Only Hope is leading them.

My Only Hope’s debut album was produced by Sal Vilanueva (Taking Back Sunday, Thursday) and is available for immediate distribution.
