Bio
My Own Ghost started as the brainchild of like-minded musicians working for Rudy's Barbershop in Santa Monica, California. The idea was to create an eclectic sound, taking elements from the late 80's and early to mid 90's. With influences as diverse as new wave, alternative, classic rock, and modern post punk, a sound began to develop. While suffering from a rough case of pneumonia, Vinni Ramirez began the construction of several songs for the project that dealt with themes of mortality, existentialism, and legacy. When Natalie SmitteN, a well trained multi-instrumentalist, got a hold of the music, the songs began to take shape. As Vinni struggled to regain his voice the music found a voice all its own. As the project grew, Brian Carsey was added on drums. His immense talent and aggressive percussion provides the energy and backbone to the music. Mac Martin came on board with his mastery on guitar to truly round out the line-up. With insightful themes, driving rhythm and sometimes haunting lead melodies a unique sound began to form. The band became obsessed with the idea that we often kill off pieces of self as we move through life. We are all haunted in some way by our own ghosts….
