THE 2007 EAST COAST MUSIC AWARDS, CONFERENCE & FESTIVAL CANADIAN MUSIC EAST COAST STYLE A UNIQUE CULTURAL AND BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

Encompassing an industry convention and trade show, a nationally televised award show, a wide array of concert venues and showcases, a host community that embraces the event and a spotlight on local, national and international recording artists … you might think Toronto, New York or Los Angeles. No, it is our very own East Coast Music Awards, Conference & Festival. A celebration of the best and brightest musical talent, home-grown in our Atlantic Canadian community.

Celebrating our 19th Anniversary, the East Coast Music Association is preparing for the 2007 East Coast Music Awards, Conference & Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada February 15th - 18th, 2007. The four-day music and industry extravaganza will take the city by storm. Throughout the city, the region's music and roots will take centre stage as artists and industry representatives meet to focus on the growth and development of our unique musical culture, celebrate our achievements and showcase our diverse talent.

Attended by more than 2,500 industry representatives and performers, the event has grown from a one-day event hosted in a Halifax bar, to a forum that has helped to promote many of Atlantic Canada’s artists to national and international presenters and buyers.

Throughout the ECMA Conference & Festival, there are a wide range of showcases presented across many genres – and this is your chance to play an ECMA Showcase. Selected showcase performer payments are based on a special union scale agreement and are also provided with access to the annual conference program and other event showcases. Artists are responsible for their own travel and lodging.

Please note: Eligible artists must be Atlantic Canadians. An Atlantic Canadian is defined as:

1. A person who was either born in Atlantic Canada; or
2. A person who has lived in Atlantic Canada for the full eligibility period (June 1, 2005 to October 16, 2006).

At least 50% of group members must be Atlantic Canadian.

Artists/groups that performed on the Songwriter's Circle at ECMA 2006 are not eligible to submit for 2007.

You must be a member of BOTH ECMA and Sonicbids to qualify for an ECMA showcase. You may submit before you become a member of ECMA; however, you must join ECMA by the submission deadline in order for your submission to be considered.

Bio

Myra Leblanc was born and raised on the French Shore of Clare, NS. She was raised with a love for music coming directly from a musical background dating as far back as the 1900’s and as far away as Louisiana. Her family tree boasts very musical relatives, including Ron “Black” Guidry (The Cajun Man) who is seen on many TV commercials. You may recognize his "AIYEEE" for KIA, which helped to make him well known in the TV and music biz.

Myra began singing as soon as she could talk, but she didn’t take it too seriously until 10 years ago, when she decided that she would pursue a career in country music. She has won several local talent contests including the “Western Nova Scotia Exhibition”, “The Blue Live Talent Contest”, and also was a finalist in the “Little Nashville Idol” contest in Dartmouth, NS. Myra also qualified as one of the finalists in “CMT Project Discovery 2001”, in Bridgewater, NS.
Myra has recently recorded a debut CD
Some of the songwriters on her new CD are:
Ande Rasmussen Co-wrote Myra’s song called “Zip” with Donna Aylor - who is an accomplished songwriter from San Angelo, Texas.
“Ande Rasmussen” also co wrote the song, "Home Made of Stone" with Nashville Star Runner up, John Arthur Martinez and Steve Seskin, the song debuted on the Billboard Country Charts in February 2004.

Dan McVeigh from Ontario Canada co-wrote some of the songs on the album while songwriters such as:
Jeff Moxcey co wrote some of the other songs on the album.

Artists who have opened for Jo Dee Messina, Jessica Andrews, Diamond Rio, Tracy Lawrence and Alabama have also recorded Jeff’s songs. He also has songs under contract with publishers in Nashville and was a finalist in the John Lennon Song Contest.

You’ll find that Myra’s personality comes through in this album. Some of the fun songs that are on the album such as “Like Shania Twain” and “Zip” shows her fun side and her uncanny way of looking at life with a little humor.

Her Ballad called “Love will Be” will touch every girl’s heart, young or old, as it talks about the meaning of Love.

Myra’s songs “ That’s Life” and A little Too Lonely” get regular airplay on radio CJLS, and a lot of support in her hometown of Yarmouth, NS where she currently resides.
