Who said you had to substitute beauty for a voice? Myra is the package that is very hard to come by. The beauty of her voice cannot be described by a single word. Although many musical inspirations include Toni Braxton, Tina Turner, Luther Vandross, Gladys Knight and Mary J. Blige, and its only obvious that Myra’s sound is truly unique.

The talented producer, singer, songwriter born in Port Arthur, TX home of Janis Joplin and rappers UGK, is awaiting her chance at stardom. A child of two parents that are Pastors of a holiness church, Myra grew up in the church singing, directing the choir, and playing the drums. She credits that church for sultry voice. Currently residing in Houston TX and a recent graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a BA in RATV Communications and a minor in dance, Myra has dedicated her all to her music. Myra is currently apart of two local bands, her own Myra Washington Featuring the Reign as well as Rick Marcel and The Radiance Band, where you can find the her singing almost every weekend at venues such as, Sullivan's Steakhouse, Mercury Room, Scott Gertners Skybar or Remington’s just to name a few. These bands play a wide variety of music from R&B, rock and roll, jazz to singing the blues.

Myra has performed at some of Houston’s Finest and most memorable events including Essence Music Fest 2006 opening for acts such as Kindred and the Family Soul, Brian Mcknight, The Ojays, Latoya Luckett, and Chris Brown, Montell Jordan, Houston’s 169th birthday party honoring Mayor Bill White and Pro-tem Carol Alvarado, The Partnership for Baylor College of Medicine for Prostate Cancer research, The Freedom Festival Houston Official Chevy's Annual July 4th celebration 2005 and 2006 Opening for the Los Lonely Boy's and the Village People, featuring Leanne Rimes and Clint Black and numerous weddings and receptions and other private affairs..
Myra has also opened up for comedian Sinbad, and national acts such as “Ideal”, Jo Dee Messina and gospel artist John P Kee. She has also been featured on many songs, singing and writing hooks for local hip hop rappers and singers. She is very determined to make the music industry make room for her.
