Biography

With a blend of Fiery Rock, Blues, Soul, Pop and a splash of Latin, Myrna, an Austin native, has been creating quite the buzz around town. Already an accomplished actress in 2005 she stepped into singing and songwriting like a fish takes to water.

The Austin City Council recognized her by declaring “Myrna Day" in her honor in 2006 and in that same year she was inducted into the Texas Music Museum as an influential Latina artist. An article in the Austin American-Statesman Xlent Entertainment section described her as “one of the best Austin artists you’ve never heard of (but will).” The Austin Convention and Visitor's Bureau chose the track "Un Dia", from her long awaited debut CD Letting Go, for their Latin compilation CD for 2009.

Dramatic and addictive her music makes you want to dance and takes you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions and sounds. Myrna's vocals are passionate and strong, seductively drawing you into each song.

The incredible support from talented musicians that jumped on board to play on her debut CD, include: saxophone player Jerry Martini (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Sly and the Family Stone), keyboard player Reese Wynans (Double Trouble), accordion player Ponty Bone, bassist Glenn Fukanaga (Lloyd Maines, Joe Ely, Asleep at the Wheel), and drummer Hector Muñoz (Alejandro Escovedo), to name a few who perform on the new CD.

ANSWERS
I woke up this morning
To find a part of me had died
I didn’t recognize myself
I was so confused I thought
Was it something I had done
I heard a voice inside me say

Stop trying to find answers
It’s not time to find answers

Just lay your head down and sleep
And soon your cocoon will shed
And you’re gonna fly away free
And then you’ll know just what it means
Cause sometimes things happen
That you don’t understand
And even though you can’t fathom
It’s a blessing in your hand
So I stopped asking questions
And I laid me down to sleep
I was filled with compassion
I saw the blessings in me
I didn’t know I was lucky
But now I know for sure
I’m spreading my wings now
You know it’s time for me to soar

I stopped trying to find answers
I stopped trying to find answers
And I laid me down to sleep
And now this cocoon will shed
And I’m gonna fly away free
And now I know just what it means
Cause sometimes things happen
Yes I know just what it means (Repeat)

I woke up this morning to find
A part of me had died
I didn’t recognize myself
