"Tribal Music Merged with Technology"

"It’s tribal music merged with technology, a Radiohead-esque electronic soundscape...a touch of Trent Reznor fused with Future Sound of London." - Indie-Music.com

"Fan Review"

"This music has an elegance to it, invites you to listen. Your ears are not violated by loud outbursts or obnoxious sounds. The artists, I am sure, ask you in the most respectful manner to sit down and listen to what our world is like. They ask, 'Don't we live in a beautiful world? There are beautiful things all around us.'" - William Raynovich, Chicago composer

"Truly Experimental"

"It is rare to find truly experimental music these days, and Chicago's Mysteriam proves to be one of those rarities. Multimedia artist Corbett Lunsford uses his own colorful palette to create a vibrant mosaic of life brimming musical tapestries. This is true trail-blazing, mind-stretching music." - Music Morsels Online

"Entryway Album Review"

"Entryway is an atmosphere, not a set of melodies... like the intro to Dire Strait’s 'Money For Nothing' without the following song. I find myself playing this album from start to finish over and over again." - Marcellus' Music Muse (blog)

"Fantastic"

"Call them an electronic outfit that reaches out for pop hooks bottled along with electronic ambiance, an ambivalence towards genres and classifications, and ingenious songwriting. I hear so much going on throughout “Entryway” that’s it becomes impossible to engage with each and every sound, resulting in lots of repeat listens. Fantastic." - Smother.net

Bio

Mysteriam plays music as in a dream: strange, beautiful, and seemingly familiar. The group, sometimes using electronics, sometimes unplugged, has been compared to Radiohead, Beck, Ben Folds Five, Steely Dan, and Future Sound of London; they always aim to arrest the audience by being both danceable and unpredictable. The shows' atmospheres are thrillingly enhanced with onstage video and theatrical elements.

The duo is led by Corbett Lunsford, a graduate of Berklee College of Music whose music has been commissioned by dance and theatre companies across North America. Lunsford is joined by actress Grace McPhillips, who provides endless supplies of harmonies and bizarrely captivating visual entertainment. The two are thrilled to be married in real life, as well as onstage.

The group is also often graced by guest appearances from other Mysteriam collaborators: dancers, performance artists, puppeteers, and videographers.

Since 2005, Mysteriam (the entire scope of which has involved 30+ artists) has been busy with international collaborations, the release of an experimental music video series, the production and editing of a grant-funded 10-hour improvised recording session, a tour in Thailand recording audio and video material, and supporting the work of the individual creators, many of whom are full-time artists. The group is promoting its new album, "Entryway," a complex layering of pop and electronic elements.

in 2007, Mysteriam began presenting EnterActions in Chicago and touring regionally, presenting a thrilling fusion of catchy organic chaos and electronic components and processes.
