Mystic Rave

Mystic Rave, a.k.a. Jahn Stevens until recently, had been playing the restaurant circuit in the Midwest with set lists that included a few originals but mostly a broad spectrum of classic covers. After growing more & more uncomfortable playing classics as his primary focus, he realized his interests lay more with song writing, arranging and practicing recording arts.

His songs are fueled by his diverse interests which stretch from folk to Motown to hip-hop to electronic. His performances are singer songwriter meets a DJ meets a guitarist. With his restaurant gigs short behind him he does not intend to forget those days. "I wouldn't have traded the time I've spent playing restaurants, especially, for anything. It was all part of the process of developing as musician; through those gigs I learned certain musical phrases that seemed to catch people's attention and how to engage diverse groups. I still plan to play them again from time to time just to keep it real."

Jahn was born in Flint, Michigan, grew up in rural Ohio and is currently living in the Columbus, Ohio area. Though his musical journey has led him to residing in Nashville, Houston and various other cities before returning back to the Columbus area, he began playing in rural churches. He has performed as a front man with multiple bands before playing the restaurant scene with just a guitar and voice. Then and now his highest interest has always been in song-writing and creative musicianship.

His latest project and debut CD, Cosmic Mystic Rave, was self produced and conjured like a mad scientist with musical parts flying everywhere. The writing is honest and searching and the songs are an accessible celebration of his perspectives through musical deliberation.
