"Mz Kick-Arze!"

"She sits gracefully with a childlike glimmer in her eyes. "That's your wenis," she giggles as she points to her elbow, "And your wagina is the inside of your elbow; and you moosh them together and that's your wenis and wagina having sex!"

It's not hard to see why Magdalena Sky, aka Mz Ann Thropik, is so admired by her fans. Brutal yet delicate, her performances leave people walking away dazed and happy - and not just from an occasional flash of her knickers.

Mz Ann Thropik's sledgehammer music style - "Gotha-popa-rockabilly" she calls it - has been enchanting the underground music scene for almost six years, but her debut EP, A Silent Scream has only just managed to blast its way up through the rabbit-hole recently.

"The EP took a while because I wanted it to be perfect," Magdalena explains. "I wanted the songs to be representative of what Mz Ann Thropik is, and that is, you can't quite put your finger on it. I like messing with people's heads in that sense."

Not limited to messing with the minds of fans, however, Magdalena claims she often agrues with Mz Ann inside her head, like a clash between two sides of her larger-than-life personality.

"People often ask me do I find it hard to differentiate between Mz Ann and Magdalena and sometimes I do. But she's kind of resting in me now. She's a bit more peaceful, we've kond of learnt to live with each other as friends now."

Mz Ann Thropik is about so much more than just music and performance. Her lyrics are often reassuring, telling people thatthey can "get the fuck back up and get really strong". To solidyfy this idea she created the "Tiger Hat Army" for her adoring fans as a means of helping them find strength; the members believe in themselves with the courage of a tiger, and wear hats whenever they are sad or afraid.

"I get letters from them saying that i kept them alive or that I gave them hope," Magdalena beams. "It blows my mind. It makes me cry and then go "Fuck, this is one of the reasons I'm a performer."

"A Silent Scream"

“A Silent Scream proves Mz Ann Thropik are a band with an arsenal of good songs. She reminds me of a modern day Poly Styrene, from X Ray Spex, but more stylish and articulate.” - FASTER lOUDER.COM - Fasterlouder.com

Bio

In a world where technology has taken over so much that any emotion is downloadable, over saturated and over exposed Mz Ann Thropik dons her Tiger Hat with a goofy smile and charges forward with a positive attitude followed by the “Tiger Hat Army”.

Born to a second hand guitar in 2001, Mz Ann Thropik has been playing Australia wide for six years. Starting off as a punk rock riot grrl band, shifting through heavy rock influences and adding a little sassy gothabilly, followed by a twist of pop, she’s become her own sound. To top that off her live shows are an equivalent to having your heart ripped out and served to you on a silver platter while you’re being tickled silly!

A whimsical personality with a sugar coated voice rapidly changes into a vicious wind up doll caught in a hurricane. Her stage antics, like diving off and straddling people in the audience whilst still singing or jumping on top of her flour covered bassist and getting back up with a split lip, always add breath taking moments to her performance.

Releasing her debut EP “A Silent Scream” April 07, she has cultivated a large fan base Australia and World Wide through the internet, myspace, press and rapidly become the girl that others idolize and want to look up to more than the clean stereotypes they are force fed. She serves to fill the void for the lack of strong, gutsy, live performance driven females in Australian music.

Through this she has started her own army called “The Tiger Hat Army”, where fans of the band are encourage to wear tiger hats to show their strength and belief in themselves and hear themselves “ROARRRRRRRRRRR!

Not only has she been poster girl for Twisted magazine, Cover girl for Fiend magazine as well as interviewed in numerous worldwide publications, Mz Ann Thropik now has her own Lolllies and Dresses!!!

She has packed out venues across Australia Inc. The Gaelic Club, The Annandale, The Metro, The Marquee, Melbourne’s Switch and Brisbane’s Club Phoenix just to name a few. With over 14,200 fans she has reached 1 unsigned alternative, gothic and punk musician in AUS on Myspace. She has also reached 1 on Triple J Unearthed Overall charts and is currently promoting and touring her debut EP – with “A Silent Scream” in a town near you!
