Feeling a bit camera shy

"A hard working, lyrically aggressive emcee that is thought provoking and versatile over any production," say Gz of Marxmen Media who has taken on the role of manager to help further the artist of which she speaks.

N3RO (Flashlight Down, Army of Three) is a native of Southern California's North County, Oceanside to be exact. An infamous city filled with absolute diversity and no shame in being beautiful as well as grimy. Where color lines as well as poverty lines are blurred. This reality has birthed something in the Caucasian emcee... ambition, drive, and a voice in the midst of Hip Hop’s underground elite.

As a solo emcee, beginning in the mid 90's, N3RO has often diversified and chosen many different paths rather than one. "It's the challenge of showing skill, yet entertaining specific and non-specific crowds," explains the hazel-eyed lyricist who looks more like a member of the Hell's Angels motorcycle club than the rapper he is. When opting for sounds, N3RO has been known for surprising his listeners with a multitude of angles on topics and delivery. A poet's poet and a rapper's rapper, in his mind there is no separation of the two art forms. "Lyricism is exactly the same as poetry! Mathematically... it's a game of syllables and emotion. Saul Williams, 2Mex, JayZ, Tom Waits, Royce 5'9", Ursula Rucker, Adeem... they all do the same. They only differ in topic and syllable counts." N3ro's sound is hardcore Hip Hop mixed with a west coast feel that is reminiscence of Jedi Mind Tricks and the Game mixed with the Neptunes and a little House of Pain.

Also known for being involved in many different projects, N3RO has seen many different sides to the Hip Hop world. With his Flashlight Down project he is collaborating with many different emcees to create a new feel to something very familiar. Underground hip hop with a mainstream appeal... or maybe mainstream Hip Hop with an underground appeal. There is a universal lyrical appeal with this upcoming project.

Involved with many other projects as well as affiliations with the likes of La Coka Nostra, Maker and DJ DQ of GLUE, Kev Sakoda, Plain Jane, Big Left, and Aftalife Entertainment to name a few. N3RO ultimately is a solo emcee. "I can work with anyone on any type of track, but sometimes it's a great thing to walk the path alone. Music... especially Hip Hop, comes from a place deep inside that has to be discovered repeatedly. It's evolution. And that's the beauty of making music... even if that very music sounds vicious!"
