Bio

Nabil Khazzaka is a composer and singer of “danceable Depeche Mode music”. The son of a Belgian mother and a Lebanese father, his favourite artists have always been cross-over acts like Madonna, ABBA, Björk, and Depeche Mode. Consequently Nabil’s music is a big melting-pot of electronica, folk, classical music, vocal harmonies, musical drama etc.

After four singles Nabil is now releasing a full album. It contains the best tracks from these singles and new recordings. On these sin- gles he worked with several Belgian produc- ers: Frankie Rose (a folk musician), Eduardo Delvino (who produced the Belgian dance act Zippora), Dennis Vos and Jean-Pierre Kerk- hofs. The album also includes an edit version of Promise Me, a track produced by Burak Yildirim and released on Distant Records. All the new recordings are produced by Na- bil himself. For these tracks Nabil pulled out all the stops. He worked with a drummer, a female backing singer, a string quartet etc. Like a true craftsman he worked for hours on end to perfect the tracks.

Nabil has always been admired for his au- dacity and his humour, both musically and lyrically. Despite what the titles might suggest, I Need Girls is not about sex and Keep Your Body In Motion is about ... the laws of New- ton. Nabil is like Belgium’s answer to Robbie Williams: rebellious but charming. Catherine Geens (Fundacion Carlos de Amberes) in “De Morgen”: “We recently had Nabil Khaz- zaka as our guest. The audience came for the music from Schubert, Paganini and Bach but left totally charmed by Khazzaka.” Or Sharon Light in “The Bulletin” on his role in “Joseph”: “Special mention goes to Nabil Khazzaka as Pharaoh for leading the bring-down-the-house number Song of the King.” Dominique Piérard (music journalist) “Nabil shows humour and open-mindedness ... (by) ... covering ‘Born To Be Wild’ during mass in a church.”
