HOMESPUN by NADIA SUNDE
Homespun is produced, recorded and engineered by Australian guitar virtuoso Michael Fix. Michael plays guitars, banjo, mandolin, bass, dobro, ukelele and the odd ‘goose’ sample on the album. Joining him and Nadia on Homespun are some of Queensland’s finest musical talents, including Silas Palmer on fiddle, accordion and piano, Doc Span on harmonica, Doug Gallacher on drums and percussion, and Sarah Calderwood on flute and whistles. This is a band to rock your socks one minute and croon you the next.

Bio

The Goat and The Goose from Gold Coast singer/songwriter,
Nadia Sunde’s new album for families, Homespun,
awarded in the International Songwriting Competition.

"We absolutely love your CD. My daughter, Phoebe age 3, loves it! Its the only CD we play in the car all the time. Phoebe sings along with you. My husband and I, too, sing along. Thanks for bringing your music into our lives." Allyson Smith

“Ever since my girls and I saw you perform in Brisbane we have played your CD in our car non-stop! We absolutely love it! I love your sharing of tenderness, fun, and your ability to enjoy those moments when children can make one despair.” From Deborah Carlyon, children’s author and mother.

Meet the “deliciously heartwarming and soulful” Nadia Sunde. As a singer/songwriter, early childhood music educator, ABC radio presenter and mother of two, Nadia has made it her mission in life to inspire and connect people in a celebration of story, song, laughter and dance. Her new album for families, Homespun, features a collection of songs that reflect and enhance that magical space between grown-ups and kids. “My children find delight in the every day – fishing in the sunshine, train rides, rainy days in a nest of blankets and dancing in the kitchen. They make it easy for a songwriter like me to feel inspired”, says Nadia. The result of this inspiration is an album that resonates with warmth, humour, wonderful storytelling and a heartfelt sense of connection.

The first track from Homespun, The Goat and The Goose has been awarded third place in the Children’s category of the International Songwriting Competition, amongst a field of 15,000 applicants. Nadia said, “I’m thrilled to be receive recognition with a place in the International Songwriting Competition in the company of other Australian notables such as Troy Cassar-Daley and Sarah Blasko. The Goat and The Goose is a song about friendship and the fact we don’t have to be the same to get along. It also happens to be a true story…”

Prior to its release, the songs from Homespun became the inspiration for Nadia's Wish, a live music and theatre experience for children and families. Nadia's Wish made its debut to delighted audiences at the State Library of Queensland in Brisbane in a successful three-week season in January 2010. Supporting Nadia onstage for those performances was her new ensemble The Best Band In The World including Michael Fix, Silas Palmer, Andrew Shaw and Suzanne Hibbs.
