Nadiyah Day explores the Spirit of Love through music.
Vocals like a cool breeze on a warm summer day ... Lyrics that paint a picture ... Melodies that set the mood ... Nadiyah Day is a songwriter and musician, a silky soul singer and classically trained soprano with a broad range and versatility.
Nadiyah Day sings and writes songs from her heart.
Through her music, she promotes the ideas of unconditional love of self and expressing that love with others. She believes in the power of love to transform our relationships with ourselves, friends and lovers, society, our institutions ... and ultimately, the world. Love transcends all barriers and differences and can be used to unite us all. She also wants to inspire people to be their authentic selves and live a life of purpose and joy, reminding them that happiness, peace and freedom are all states of mind.
Growing up in Chicago, Nadiyah was greatly influenced by the Deep House Music movement; the DJs played a range of danceable, groove-filled music including disco, funk, soul and house. Nadiyah’s father, a jazz singer, filled her childhood home with music from his extensive record collection that included all the jazz greats and salsa legends. She also fell in love with ballads, and would often record songs off the radio to make slow jam tapes.
She began singing publicly as a soloist in the Advanced Concert Choir at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, starting her love affair with the art of music and crafting harmonies.
She has honed her skills by performing in
different venues in Atlanta such as The Music Room, Café 290, Apache Café and
Kat’s Café. She appeared in a production of the Sound of Music, was a soloist
in the a cappella ensemble Cantamos and sang with the Capital City Opera
Company. She has done session work and written lyrics with various producers
and arrangers/composers. She has performed background vocals for local artists,
and sang lead and played keyboards in the Soul/Funk band Infinity Skye. She is
currently promoting her new single and putting the finishing touches on her upcoming
EP, both entitled “What’s in My Heart.”
