Bio

Nadja Petrick may very well be one of the most straight forward persons you have ever met.
When asked about her musical style, she turns her head and says: "It´s probably singer/songwriter, but I really hate any kind of labeling." You understand this point of view when listening to the new demos she recently recorded.
Her songs are based on rather clear and simple compositions without many arrangements. It´s this unique voice, distinctive and mystic, that creates an impressive impact on the listener and the audience. Straight lines, full of power and personal statements. You may feel her physical need to express herself. There is no musical note that Nadja doesn´t want to be there.
Nothing comes easier than writing songs to Nadja Petrick and it is as if she has a premonition of fine feeling as to how a song should be delivered. In a day and age of music such as techno and a like, Nadja has always shone through, in the Berliner club scene, with her own brand and style of music.
In typical true American songwriting tradition she writes her songs impulsively, without squinting at the usual trends and styles, applying her own, raw, vivid and spicy artistry, with pinch of sublime à la Dylan.
"Imitate yourself" is her motto for pure simplicity, she never follows the lines that have been laid before, basically it´s all down to unpretentious "The power of songs".
Nadja´s career began weird and wonderful, under German circumstances, when in 1990, she, along with her six string box, were invited to cut her debut album at Peter Gabriel´s Real World Studio. She went on from there to play a multitude of clubs, giging with the likes of Roger Chapman and toured the U.S. with her band "The Wildflowers" from Seattle to Austin which included the South-by-South-West-Festival in Austin in 1995.
Her new work is more personal than it has ever been. Simple and clear, just straight forward. A perfect match to this strange and beautiful voice she has.
