Bio
In 2004, Naked won an award for best The Hague album of the year. Several producers and musicians had contributed to the album, which was received with great enthusiasm nationally.
Founding member Arie Spaans is also known for his other band, Suburbs, which played Parkpop and Crossing Border Festival and won the Big Dutch Pop Award in '97.
Writing songs is his passion, which was once again proven when his song "Rollercoaster" became a smash hit.
Naked's songs are based on the 1993 Mike Leigh movie: intelligent, but with a dark edge to them. Other influences include Joy Division, Jeff Buckley, Porcupine Tree, Hank Williams and Pink Floyd.
Now, in 2011, Naked is blessed with a strong line up of musicians: Rob Lagendijk on upright bass (a.o. Smutfish, John Dear Mowing Club), Rick Roomer on drums, young Alexé (a.o. Blackstone) on guitar and occasional accordeon, Willem Art (Hillbilly Stringpickers) on violin and of course, Arie Spaans on vocals and guitar.
