Bio

Cultivating their songs with lush flavors of psychedelia, folk, surf, and world music. The naked Citizens create a fresh new rock sound that’s all their own. Their self-titled album, ‘The Naked Citizens’, presents songs reminiscent of 60’s and 70’s rock, while select tracks display an atmospheric insurgent country and Americana vibe.

The Naked Citizen’s sound was arduously achieved through a combination of modern songwriting and ageless instrumentation. The use of analog format captured the true warmth and tone of vintage gear, contributing greatly to the natural sound of this CD.

The culmination of their efforts was placed in the hands of Brian Foraker, a renowned industry talent who has worked with the likes of Moby, Kiss, and Led Zeppelin. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette described the album as a “jangling yet muscular sound (which) recalls the Gin Blossoms take on the 60’s.”

Charismatic front man, Scott Argiro, has been writing and recording music throughout his life. Prior to the Naked Citizens, this multi-instrumentalist has released various projects including an internationally released compilation album, and has built a song catalog of over 200 works to date. Argiro’s vast appreciation for many different musical styles has proven valuable to his approach to songwriting.

Guitarist Jack Brown’s performances have had his audience captivated for years. At Virginia Tech University, Brown was the guitarist for ‘Innocent Nixon’ a popular band that experienced much success throughout the state of Virginia in the early 90’s. Jack’s unique sound is primarily influenced by the improvisational blues styling of artists like Santana, Clapton, and Page. His guitar style is truly visionary and at times, downright hypnotic.

Dan Sommer has been playing drums throughout most of his life. He has had experience drumming for a multitude of rock bands, jazz ensembles, and has shared his talents on a variety of recording projects. With a love for live performing, Dan’s combination of raw energy and polished skills make him an incredibly unique drummer, amazing to the naked eye and irresistible to your feet.

The Naked Citizens have the sound and persona to appeal to wide audiences while remaining true to their art and indifferent to passing trends. Their non-traditional approach to their craft has achieved them a style worthy of more than conventional genre classifications. Their work and energetic stage performances combine the perfect balance of showmanship, imagery, vibrant rhythms, and true universal appeal. If you haven’t already, it is time you explore the innovative and stylistic sounds of The Naked Citizens.
