Bio

Naked was born in Woodstock NY, revolving around the songs, spirit, vision and voice of singer/songwriter Julia Nichols.

Julia was often found sneaking into the bar with her guitar at age twelve. A third generation musician has been working in her community for so long, locals would peg her as ten years older than she actually is.
She has played with numerous bands ranging punk, jazz, rock, classical, folk, alternative, blues, latin and reggae in venues across the world.
Once known as the singer of The Waz, and that girl who sang with Ari-Up of The Slits, Julia is now focusing entirely on her band Naked.

Difficult to to categorize, Naked provides an ambient, genre defying mix of magical elements that touch upon, soul, jazz, blues and pop with a bohemian air.
Known for their vocal arrangements & harmonies, driven by an intricate tapestry of rhythm, Naked is described by many as a wall of sound.
In the grand tradition of Papa Funk, Julia and the core members of Naked are something like the roots of a tree, with branches comprised of the revolving members.
Naked looks to share the harvest of a new album after a creative winter in the catskills.

Naked has shared the stage with The Wailers, Toots and the Maytals, Fishbone , The Push stars, Coheed and Cambria, Meredith Monk, Nina Hagen, Eric Andersen, Pete Seeger, the Damned, Happy and Arty Traum, John Sebastian, P Funk, Jack Dejohnette, The slits, John Hammond and many others on the stages of The Chance, Webster Hall, Wetlands, Brownies, Don Hills,The Knitting Factory, CBGB's, Sidewalk Café( NYC) The Morecambe Arena (UK), Camden Underground (UK), UPAC (Kingston), A day in the Garden ,Harvest Fest, Valentines Music Hall (Albany), Milestones (Rochester), Castaways (Ithica), Bearsville Theater, , the now historical Joyous Lake and Tinker Street Café (Woodstock NY). The list goes on........ .
