Boise Curb Cup countdown: Meet Nancy Kelly who makes musical pictures
Nancy Kelly wrote her first song at 17 about drinking tea by candlelight on the sultry shores of Cape Cod. Since then she has been documenting her life through music.
"I create these three-minute pictures of what I love in life: my friends, family, my house and dogs," she said.
Kelly started playing in Boise's music scene in 1998, at places such as Moon's Kitchen, Art Source Gallery, and Art and Roses.
She plays keyboards and the mountain dulcimer, an instrument her friends and family pitched in to buy for her last birthday. She's been teaching herself to play.
"I've been learning some of the old songs, you know the Appalachian folk songs, and now I'm writing a few."
- Dana Oland
"The invigorating spirit of this approachable humble woman will astound and encourage you. Her original music straddles many genres and her performances are always an event!" - The Library Coffee House
One of the best pieces of work in my collection... I haven't taken it out of my player for a full month !!!!!!!
Gordon Gray - CD Baby (Jan, 2006)
Soulful, unique, and aptly titled... Mix these tracks with Norah Jones, Holly Cole, Diana Krall, or Erin Bode. Soulful, with an easy beat, and lyrics that paint pictures.
Bruce Denis - CD Baby (Jan 2, 2006)
If you've ever experienced pain and are in need of healing, run to this CD to find the respite you've been longing for!
Sherri Miller - CD Baby (Feb 15, 2006) - CD Baby
Beautiful! Lyrical, and nothing quite like it...Reminds me of celtic singer, Karan Kasey, but even more accessible and warm. Great stuff.
C D Brown - CD Baby (Dec, 2006)
This album will bring a smile to your face and give you a warm cozy glow on the inside.
AKS - CD Baby (Jan 4, 2007)
I love the variety of music on this CD. There are original tunes and traditional. Nancy's version of White Christmas is the best I've ever heard.
Linda Lester - CD Baby (Nov, 2007) - CDBaby
