"Nancy in Concert!"

I thoroughly enjoyed Nancy's concert on Sunday. I loved the way she wove thoughts about us as a group between each song. It was very moving and inspirational!

"Songs from the Heart"

I admit it, I am an unabashed Nancy Krebs fan. As a lyrics-first type, I have luxuriated in the wonderful and thoughtful words that Krebs consistently has delivered, always woven in lovely music, beautifully sung and simply produced. 'Songs from the Heart', her fifth release, is the best of her offerings. The singing is very relaxed and pleasing to listen to. The arrangements, though still simple, are smoother and fuller. And as always, the lyrics do not disappoint.
Songs from the Heart begins with an exquisite a cappella piece called "Aspirations" (the only song not exclusively penned by Nancy) The performance is as perfect as it gets. It certainly hooked me and made me want to listen to more.
"Waiting for Me" took my breath away. The chorus is simply magnificent. It doesn't do the song justice to simply print the lryics here; the words must be heard with the music.
Krebs has grown in others way, as a songwriter. She has written two songs that are, in this critic's opinion, very suitable for liturgy. "Heal Us Lord" has a lovely, lilting melody that is very memorable; "Rejoice and Be Glad" has a very catchy refrain that can be easily taught to a congregation, even if music is available to them. I hope, however, that Krebs makes the sheet music available for purchase because the congregation should sing this song in its entirety.
If you love thought-provoking lyrics that nourish the soul and gentle music that will lift your spirits, then I highly recommend 'Songs from the Heart'.

Bio

I have written songs with spiritual themes since I was in High School, but since 1994, I've written so many-- that it seemed time to record, and share these songs with a wider audience. I have been heavily influenced by the singer-songwriters who create stories with their music--Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, Jimmy Buffett--even though my style would not be like theirs at all--I loved the way they wove messages within the story itself. People tell me that I sound a little like Ann Murray and k.d. lang (I wish!) When you listen to my songs, I am hoping that they will touch you in some way, as they have touched me in their creation. People who come to my concerts tell me that the songs grab them emotionally as well as spiritually. God has inspired these songs--I don't write them--He does; so maybe that's where the power comes from. It certainly doesn't come from me. I've been so blessed to come upon Invisible Sound Studios with Dave Nachodsky as engineer, and the great ear he has. Also the wonderful musicians that have graced these CDs hve to be given a lot of credit for enhancing the music in so many ways. I should also thank my husband, Pete, who made it all possible for me to begin recording my songs.
