"Para Ti"

"Para Ti... is as lovely as one can be in sound. She escalates her previous accolades even higher with this new selection of songs... An extremely angelic and warm production... " - Karl Stober -Jazztrenzz

"Nancy Ruth in Barcelona"

Me Quedo/Nancy Ruth: Home of Jazz (2008)

What Latin Jazz instills in the listener, or I should say is expected, is to define the core of a romantic texture. When the Latin beat extends itself over the air waves, the blood boils a little hotter, the movements become more fluid, and the passion is exhumed much deeper from within the soul. This is the encounter one will feel with Me Quedo and vocalist Nancy Ruth. Her tones allow the heartbeat to race faster with every pulse of the composition.

Ms. Ruth is a Canadian with a fiery “heavy with appeal” compassion for the Latin expression. Her music instills that vibrant tone with a sultry execution. An animated performer, Ms Ruth not only vocalizes the culture, she escorts it in with her eyes and a reactive demeanor, to the audience. Worldwide she introduces with success, the romantic luxury of Latino Jazz…

Several sounds out side of Ms Ruth construct this exciting project. The ivory voyage of Jean Louis Van Dam as he lays the foundation on many cuts, including “No Digas Mas”, is a fine example of the craftsmanship on the disk. Guitarist Pieter Nanne manipulates the introduction of “Sabor A Mi” with a gentleness seldom implemented. The gifts on stage along with Ms Ruth, empowers this pure mood swing of cultural sensitivity.

This project is the reason Latin jazz simmers the juices of loves lost and found, for the beat, tone and vocals from performers such as this, reaffirms the foundation cultural jazz has in our society.

Take time to romance your quality of life with this spin.

Para Ti is the latest release from this passionate vocalist/ songwriter who has spent her life living between Spain and Canada. Her musical influences are woven with the mystique of Moorish history and Mediterranean breezes. Nancy’s music is textured with the bustle of the plazas and small cafes of Latin America, the solitude of the Moroccan Sahara Desert, and the flamenco seeping out from patios in the labyrinth of Andalusian streets.
A musical gypsy, Nancy has spent her life singing her way around the world in search of musical encounters. She's performed with composer Toño Robira in Panama, shared the stage with pianist Bob Albanese in New York, and spent a month as featured vocalist in the Palace of the Sultan of Brunei. She performed and recorded with WEA recording artists The Lovehunters in Singapore, and toured extensively in Europe where she recorded the Spanish album "Me Quedo" for the Dutch Home of Jazz label. Her adventures have found her collaborating with Berber and Arabic musicians in Morocco, and enjoying mucha juerga with Gitanos in Andalusia.

Currently based in Barcelona, she is actively touring in Europe with her Spanish-based band.
