Biography

I go by Naomi Ford. Let me start off my stating clearly, music is my life and life is my music. The art of music is not something I take for granted. Music’s ability to change moods, while telling remarkable stories never fail at giving me the chills. To say that music has changed my life would be an understatement. Honestly, it has molded me into the person I am today. In a world where I have always felt second best, music has been my escape. I know I will achieve my goals and make my message world renown. Genuinely, I don’t believe I can excel in anything but music. Therefore, I am not giving up until I get where I want to be. With my mixture of contemporary music and evident classical influence, I intend on making a mark on the music industry that will never be forgotten.
Well, I was born February 8th 1990 in Brooklyn, New York to my Panamanian parents Maritza Chifundo and George Ford. I have always known exactly what I wanted to do with my life. At the age of three years old my mother quickly enrolled me into dance classes in order to feed my hunger for the spotlight. I took tap, lyrical and ballet classes. Once I entered I school I craved more attention and entered numerous talent shows. As years went on I experience more of what life had to offer, from the good and the bad. Once I turned seven years old I took on song writing. Ever since then it has been my passion. Being able to pour my thoughts on to paper made everything seem easy for me no matter how difficult. Years continued to go by and my writing ability grew and so my hunger to pursue music. All through my school years I was involved in numerous choirs and art programs while still doing dance. It was in these choirs that I discovered my love for classical music. After graduating high school and years of being the quiet underdog. I felt as if it was time for me to show the world exactly what I can do with my music. During my first year of college I began recording in numerous studios in New York, Tennessee and California. With recording I also did many performances and attended many shows in order to perfect my craft. Due to the fact that I was living at a fast pace that required traveling I left traditional college and began taking online courses. I still continue to perform, record and promote myself wherever I go.
Just like my music, my influences come from many different genres and art forms. My influences include: Mozart, Bob Marley, Snoop Dogg, Biggie Smalls, TuPac, Jewel, Johnny Cash, Mariah Carey, Enya, Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Edie Sedgwick, Hector Lavoe, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Selena, Ruben Blades and Slick Rick.
