"GOSPEL SINGER MAKES NAME FOR HERSELF"

Recording artist and Midway resident Naomi Ruth McFadden is gaining popularity in gospel music circles. She will soon release her debut album, “Come too Far,” and has been performing at various church events around the region. The album’s namesake single is available on iTunes.
McFadden, who also is a songwriter and composer, said she tries to appeal to fans of all ages by incorporating various genres into her Christian music. A native of New Jersey, the musician relocated to Georgia in the early 1990s and wasted no time familiarizing herself with the area.
McFadden said she was raised in the church, but began her career with an R&B record label. It didn’t take her long to realize she prefers to write and sing gospel songs, at which point she chose a different path.
She now worships at St. Peter’s AME Church Midway, where the Rev. Debbie Grant-Neal is pastor. McFadden is the director of the Genesis Praise Team, which she started in 2009. As a leader, she said, it’s important to remember faith is key. “Keep Christ at the center of your life and all things are possible,” she said.
McFadden recently sat for an on-air interview with Bishop Raymond Napper “The Holy Ghost Cowboy” of WGML 990 AM in Hinesville. She’s promoting her upcoming album release and said she’s excited to share Gods’ message with others through her music. “Come Too Far,” the single, is receiving airplay on WGML, WVGB in Beaufort, S.C. and on Internet radio stations. The album will be released Oct. 2.
McFadden said she draws inspiration and encouragement from her husband, Tracy McFadden Sr., and manager.
“I thank God for sending me such a wonderful blessing in my life,” she said.
The musician’s recent performances include: New Hope Church’s “Hype Night” on Hilton Head Island, a Midway benefit concert, Millen’s MLK Jr. Day celebration, the AME Sisterhood Conference concert in Glennville, Walthourville’s military appreciation service, St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church’s women’s conference in Ludowici, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church’s anniversary celebration in Hinesville, Project G.A.N.G. Reach’s annual Back to School Rally in Riceboro and a Victory in Praise Conference concert at New Life Fellowship Center in Charlotte, N.C.
On Aug. 3, McFadden appeared live on WATC-TV 57 “Atlanta Live.”
Her album release party for “Come too Far” is Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Quality Inn-Midtown in Savannah. Tickets are available at www.naomiruthmcfadden.com or by calling 678-754-8260.
