Nappy Hair

The Nappy Hair music group was formed in October 2010 in Dix Hills, New York by three freshmen, Ave Life, Bosqo and Peter Parker, attending Five Towns College. Nappy Hair is the story of three emotionally unstable kids from New York City. Peter Parker studied film at Five Towns, while Ave Life and Bosqo were music and audio students. Ave Life, the producer of the group, is known for his eclectic style, knowledge of music theory and complex rhythms. He is also the group's songwriter, vocalist and plays a wide variety of instruments.
Bosqo, the singer, is known for his warming vocals and soothing melodies. Peter Parker, the rapper, is praised for his out-of-the-box writing, clever use of wordplay and controversial message. As they grew to be friends and learn one another’s talents, they immediately began collaborating on music. After the release of their first recorded song entitled “Thoze Eyes” they decided to form a group. The name Nappy Hair is a metaphor for the raw, natural, coarse nature of the music that the group produces. Many times Nappy Hair has been compared to Tribe Called Quest, Slum Village, J Dilla and Diggable Planets. Nappy Hair now has over 50 recorded songs and has opened for Slum Village, Action Bronson and Q-Tip.
