Bio

NAR is an American art-punk band based in Los Angeles, CA. The trio consist of Natasha Roozrokh (vocals / guitar), Michael Gold (keyboard / bass), and Jake Weary (drums).

The group formed in 2010 while Natasha was touring with several bands including Pink Enemy, Michael Runion, and Vomit Bomb. During this time, Natasha had the opportunity to open for acts such as Justice, Peaches, MGMT, Beck, Warpaint, No Age, Rilo Kiley and later Jenny Lewis.

Unsatisfied with playing other people's music, Natasha decided to start her own modern & revolutionary project. She first recruited Michael, who was playing with the band Dazzler at the time. After joining with Natasha, Michael suggested Jake, who had just finished shooting a film, to complete the trio. Together, the three create a sound that is at once unapologetically innovative and distinctly timeless.

NAR is currently mastering their debut record "NARCISM," produced by Tim Anderson (Ima Robot, Werewolf Heart Records, EMI) in Hollywood, CA.

Inspired by the DIY youth movement, NARS' debut album is influenced by punk, surf, reggae, jazz and electronic music. Drawing from diverse genres and sounds, the anthems in "NARCISM" are unified by haunting and alluring melodies and the powerful and uninhibited energy of a rad live show.

NAR has been playing sold-out shows since January 2011 at venues such as The Smell with White Fence and The Babies and The Echoplex with The Drums and Io Echo. Already established locally, NAR is currently preparing for a US tour in 2012.

NAR was featured in the September 2011 issue of SPIN Magazine along with a variety of other zines and blogs.
