Biography

Nasim Pedrad has put a unique stamp on Saturday Night Live with uncanny impressions of Kim Kardashian, Barbara Walters and Arianna Huffington. However, it’s Nasim’s personal and humorous coming-to-America story which will give students insight into Iranian culture and have them cracking up at the same time. “From Tehran to SNL: Me, Myself and Iran” is Nasim’s account of being born into Iranian dictatorship and fleeing to the USA with her family. Raised in Irvine, California, she assimilated into American culture via sitcoms and movies while having a knack for performing and imitations. Nasim went to UCLA's School of Theater and performed with the Groundlings and the Upright Citizens Brigade improv comedy troupe in Los Angeles and eventually became the first Iranian-born female cast member on SNL. Nasim will give students an entertaining inside look into SNL, her unique upbringing and perform some of her favorite characters from the show.
