Bio
A NYC native and classically trained singer, Natalie Duque started taking music lessons when she was in third grade, attended a performing arts high school in NYC, and received her Bachelors in Music Business. She discovered Jazz in college and fell in love with the idea of taking a melody line and making it your own. Over the last ten years her songwriting has evolved from college folk/pop/rock to soulful and sultry, emulating the musical styles of Sia, Adele, and Florence and the Machine.
Natalie went on to pursue her Master’s in Education, and while working towards her degree, she had the privilege of working with at-risk youth in the San Bernardino Unified School District.
“Working with underserved youth was extremely fulfilling, and eye-opening. These kids were dealing with issues way beyond their years and not given the proper resources to deal with those issues. Music has always been the thing that’s kept me grounded, and it made me realize how lucky I was to always have had music to fall back on as an outlet to express myself. There are so many schools without arts programs or extra curricular activities, and those are the schools where the kids need these things most. It’s incredibly frustrating, and I knew right away that I want to do something about it.”
Over the last few years Natalie has been trying to keep music programs alive and advocating for the arts. She has been working for and volunteering at non-profits that serve youth in low income communities. Natalie’s proudest position was working as the Music Coordinator for a homeless shelter in Hollywood.
