Bio

Natalie Greenfield became passionate about music the first time she laid hands on a piano, at age 6. Her passion was strong enough to carry her through eight years of dedicated piano studies. As a preteen, a friend gave her a recording by the late Eva Cassidy and through Eva’s recording of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow', she discovered her own love of singing. With a clear vision to pursue music performance as a career, Natalie studied diligently to graduate from high school at fifteen years old and began working toward a Vocal Performance degree at the University Of Idaho.

When Natalie was 13 years old, her parents opened a coffeehouse/pub in the small town of Moscow, Idaho. The venture was an immediate success and the venue became a haven for Moscow’s jazz community. Fascinated by this “new” genre of music, Natalie soon began sitting in with the jazz combos that performed on a regular basis and realized this was the music that gave her the greatest musical satisfaction. For the next several years, she steeped herself in jazz and was heavily influenced by it.

The next step in Natalie’s musical journey happened during the 2003 University sponsored Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. At a master class, Natalie met her most significant mentor and future vocal coach, world-renowned jazz vocalist, Dee Daniels. Dee’s concepts on breathing, music as a conversation and the emotive power of lyrical delivery captivated Natalie and led to ongoing studies with Dee at her home in Vancouver, BC. With Dee’s guidance as producer, Natalie released her first CD, titled 'Natalie Rose', in October of 2005. The CD features performances from some of Canada’s top jazz musicians including Miles Black (piano), Russ Botton (bass) and Jesse Cahill (drums). In 2008 Natalie recorded an original collection of solo piano and vocal performances titled 'Out To Sea'.

Seeking to expand her musical horizons, Natalie moved to Portland, Oregon, and is currently developing her career in music writing and performance. Over the last several years, her musical direction has migrated toward R&B and Soul, drawing from influences like Amel Larrieux, India Arie, Alicia Keys, and legendary classics such as Stevie Wonder and Etta James. Natalie's musical evolution is witnessed in her poignant lyrics and visionary musical style, and is delivered with authentic, unforgettable performances. Natalie's highly original body of work provides a strong foundation for a career without limits.

With an impressive stylistic range and a compelling presence, Natalie Greenfield is poised to etch her name in music history.
