BandPopSinger/Songwriter

If you want upbeat and fun, yet well thought-out songs, check out my music. I write songs that are just the right combination of pop and smart, to set me apart from the rest. I know I've got a couple of songs that could be hits, I just need the right person to hear them.

Biography

Natalie Patterson was raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She always had a love of music, but she did not start playing the guitar until age 17. Two months after picking it up, she wrote her first song, The Days That Belonged To Us. Now in college, Natalie has written many more, and the past few years have formed her always-evolving songwriting skills. She recently released her first self-titled EP, her top 5 tracks with a full band backing up her lyrics. Natalie is in college at the University of Central Florida, studying creative writing, but she hopes to one day find some turf of her own in the music industry. She draws her influences from a number of artists including Jason Mraz, the Counting Crows, David Gray, and Melissa Etheridge, but perhaps her biggest influence has been Jewel. With hard work and perserverance, she knows she can go far.

Soul Empowered

Written By: Natalie Patterson

Soul Empowered

The grass is green today, I’m going out to play
I'll set my worries on the lawn and let them blow away
I'll watch my neighbors doing manual labor to
Keep the wildflowers away

The sun is shining today, I'm going out to play
I'm gonna stretch my wings and meet somebody on the way
I'll wear that yellow dress though
I've got no one to impress today

CHORUS
Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night
To see the meteor shower bringing the world some light?
Have you ever wanted more than all of yourself?
Or did you put all your dreams up on the highest shelf?
Well I suggest you get you better picture of the world
And catch that meteor shower
Embrace the wildflowers
And feel your soul empowered

I'll take a walk today, buy myself a bouquet
No need to wait around for a man with something brave to say
I'll spread the petals and watch them as they settle
On the sea foam bay

I'll throw my own soiree, on the corner of April and May
Invite the sparrows and the robins and the blue jays
I'll sip my coffee at the bottom of the oak tree
In our forest cafe

BRIDGE
Oh but do you wait for someone to call
Or someone to fall?
Cause it'd make your life a little easier if they
Weren't there at all
And you need somebody else
To make you feel yourself
And you're counting down the days until you hear them tell
You how you lift them up
How you lift them up
How you lift them up
But have you given up?

CHORUS
Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night
To find a note that says they're leaving on the earliest flight?
Have you ever loved them more than all of yourself?
But they just put you on the lowest shelf
Well I suggest you forget you ever knew about that world
And rewrite the hours
Buy yourself some flowers
And feel your soul empowered

Discography

Natalie has a sound that is all her own, with unique and complex lyrics, designed to avoid clichéd writing, as displayed on her first self-titled EP. “Empty” and “Stupid Little Boys” are bound to be radio hits as they speak the truth about the pesky little buggers known as men, and “Comic Book” packs a surprising amount of energy wrapped up in the right amount of lust and dissent. “Soul Empowered” sparks inspiration in the minds of listeners with its ‘seize the day’ message, while “Heart Decay” rounds out the bunch with a powerful and bittersweet recollection of a crumbling first love. Check out her first EP and you won’t be disappointed.
