Biography

(HOLLYWOOD, Calif) – Songstress Natasha James, known as the “Crossover Music Queen” due to her radio charting success in multiple music genres, wins “AC/Hot AC New Artist” for the 2009 NEW MUSIC AWARDS, it was announced by sponsor, NEW MUSIC WEEKLY magazine.
James had been nominated in five categories: “Crossover Artist Of The Year,” AC/Hot AC: “New Artist” and “Breakthrough Artist, ” College: “New Artist” and “Breakthrough Artist”. The Northern California-based musician joins such notables as Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, King of Leon, Jakob Dylan, Miley Cyrus, Son Volt and others on the prestigious NMW winner’s podium.
In addition to winning “Country Album Of The Year” for her CD TEQUILA TIME (Highway One Records) at the recent 19th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards, James was recently selected a “Hot 100 LIVE Artist of 2009” by respected trade publication, MUSIC CONNECTION , saw TEQUILA TIME selected as a “Best Of the 2000’s/End Of Decade” choice by Live 365/WOMENS RADIO; and is nominated for “2010 Female Artist of the Year” by online music magazine, ROCKWIRED.

“In a radio climate full of loud, heavily-produced songs filled with guitar riffs straight out of the 80's, it's very refreshing to come across a country album that sounds a little bit country,” writes NASHVILLE GAB. “Fine playing and very original writing grace this album…based out of California, Ms. James makes it clear that there is still a little bit of Gram Parsons and the Byrds alive out along the West Coast, as well as some Fleetwood Mac. "Tequila Time" is a country rock album to make Laurel Canyon proud.”

Lyrics

Just Enough

Written By: Natasha James

I do believe that I've had enough
I better leave it all alone
I've been pickin' up shattered pieces of my heart
what's left over, ground down to tears and bone
I been losing sleep with useless thinking
try to get my strength back to move on
cause tomorrow stands there waitin'
set me free

You give me enough to keep me hanging
just enough to get by
not enough, so I keep on danglin'
but just enough, is just not enough
this time

Oh yes, I, do believe that I've
had enough
I better leave it all, let it be
cause tomorrow stands there waiting
yes, tomorrow stands there waitin
set me free
set me free
set me free

Harder

Written By: Natasha James

Is it harder to leave you
than it is to be your fool
that's the question always at my back
there's no easy way to lose

Pain has overtaken me
body, soul and mind
everywhere I go, every second that I breathe
it's eating me alive.

If I thought I could erase it
get back what you ground to dust
but one would be too many
you know a hundred, could never be enough

So, is it harder to leave you
than it is to be your fool?
That's the question always at my back
there's no easy way to lose

Pain has overtaken me
body, soul and mind
everywhere I go
everywhere I go
It's eating me alive
You know, it's eating me alive
It's eating me alive.

Life in the City

Written By: Nat

Concrete streets
They got a cold callous heat
Kid with a music box
He's tryin' to drown out the beat
That's life in the city

You can nickel and dime
my emotions to death
you can panhandle my heart, baby
for some kind of happiness
There's a fury surrounding me
Lord, it's everywhere
something's about to explode now
and I don't wanta be there
that's Life in the City

Well, the razor blade boys
they are standin' round
checkin' out the action
what's goin' down
Know, they're always into takin'
that just ain't no way to live
gettin' over just don't make it
getin' over just don't give
well. that's Life in the City.

The Restless Kind

Written By: Natasha James

I got a bad case of nerves
I got a busy mind
I guess I was born,the restless kind
I like things in small doses
too much is overload
I guess it's always been too easy for me to hit the road
I guess I was born,the restless kind

Every time I get settled
stirs up my bones
thoughts of movin' on won't let me be till I get up and go
I've left paradise at the drop of a dime
cause what's around the way's always preyin' on my mind
I guess I was born the restless kind.

Country after country
it's a landscape of the mind
so many lifetimes up ahead
so many left behind
well, I guess, I always wanted them all
but only some of the time
I guess I was born the restless kind

Well it ain't that I don't wanna stay
believe me, I would if I could
it's just what's down the way's always called me way more
than it should
there's been times, I've been happy
well you think that would be enough
but waht's around the way's always called me way too much
I guess I was born the restless kind

I got a bad case of nerves
I got a busy mind
I guess I was born the restless kind
I guess I was born the restless kind

Signpost

Written By: Natasha James

Hey babe
I got my heart in my bootheels
another man is just another mile
to walk and wear down my soul
left so tired and hungry
from all your love

signpost in your eyes says
further on down the road (2x)

I've walked through your heart
tryin' to find its' core
and in the harsh light of day it's cold
looked in the backroom of your
wayward eyes
aches burned in my gypsy's soul
and every person that they told me
that you'd been said
get on your way down the road

cause there's that signpost
in your eyes
signpost that you can't disguise
signpost to my passin' by
sayin' get on your way
down the road
signpost says get on your way
down the road

I said, hey baby,
I got my heart in my bootheels
oh no, like I told you before
another man is just another mile
to which someone who once replied said I must be way way way
way way way way down your road

Cause now there's a signpost
in my eyes
signpost to you passin' by
signpost says get on your way boy
down the road
I do believe, that I'm bored.

Modern Life

Written By: Natasha James

Daddy goes to NA
Mamma goes to AA
the kids are playin' internet games
the dogs and cats are spayed

Daddy lives one hour away
Mamma's got a new boyfriend,
once again
Vacuum's broke; cellphone's misplaced
let' go out to dinner
cuz it's gettin' late

so this is Modern Life

Grandparents get the Hallmark's
quick stop off the freeway
let 'em know we're thinkin' of 'em
we lick a stamp, we're on our way

Get some gas, buy some beer
think back to another year
pick up the soccer uniforms
another day is come and gone

so, turn on the TV
let's try to stop thinkin'
and while you're at it
pour me a beer, please
you know, I said, I'd quit drinkin'
but this is Modern Life
and there's nothin' else to say.

Cause Daddy goes to NA
Mamma goes to AA
vacuum's broke, cellphone's misplaced
let's go out to dinner
cause it's gettin' late
cause this is Modern Life
Yeah this is Modern Life
we're in the fast lane....

Hey! Ho!

Written By: Natasha James

Hey baby, won't you come on in
sit yourself down have a drink of gin
we could have a party 'fore too long
hey baby won't you come on over
don't wait too long
I might get sober
we could have a party all night long

CHORUS:
hey ho shoulda been on that train
and gone
i coulda been there by now
hey ho shoulda been on that train and gone
lord i coulda been there by now

I don't wanna stay here and
I don't wanna go
think I better sit down and
have myself a drink
I got so many on my mind
I want 'em all but only sometimes
think I better sit down and
have myself a drink

CHORUS

Well, come on baby, you know
I'm waitin on you
I like good liquer
but I'll settle for brew
well can't you see this state I'm in?
We can start out here and then
rip the town
make it halfway to heaven
'fore the moon goes down
then get on up and do it again

CHORUS 2x

If You Think This Is Love

Written By: Natasha James

If you think this is love, baby
you better think again
love don't attack you
no love's your friend
love, love don't do you like that

If you think this is love
I know better than you
cause I been down this same damn road
more than a time or two
love, love don't treat you like that

Love, love just wants to make you feel good
love wants to give you
all that it could
no, no, love, love don't make you feel like that.

So if you think this is love,
you better look around
love don't bring you up
just to bring you down
no, no, love , love don't do you
like that
no, no, love, baby, love
don't make you feel like that..

Get Out Of My Way

Written By: Natasha James

I got lots of highway beneath these shoes
I got lots of asphalt to hide my blues
C G D
I was thinkin’ about you (bar of 3, or anticipated)
C G D
I was thinkin about me, too
C G D
I had to put some miles between us
C G D
I had to get away from you

You got so much trouble boy, in a little mind
while you’re tryin’ double, but you just can’t decide

You got a ways to go before I’m gonna
walk my road with you

Hey baby won’t you get out of my way (2x)
