Natasha Bouchard

A life well lived is the ultimate work of art, or so believes roaming raconteur, Natasha Nouveau. Born in a small French-Canadian town and raised in Western Australia, Natasha has called many places home – from the isolated coastal city of Perth, Australia to urban metropolises like Montreal, a secluded beach town in Japan, and even a Buddhist temple in Kyoto and beyond. Really, home is wherever her music takes her and for now Toronto is where the current chapter of her journey is being written.
A songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and visual artist, among many other things, Natasha Nouveau’s passion for change and desire for new experiences is evident through all facets of her personality, but perhaps most significantly in her music. It’s a sound that’s been shaped through her travels and the trials that come with embracing new surroundings.
After recording her single ‘Next Plane To Paris’ with Canadian Producer, Pierre Marchand, on somewhat of a whim, Natasha brought the single to life by catching a plane to Paris. The trip led her on an incredible journey around Europe, which she is currently documenting in a collection of new songs. It was during her time overseas – particularly that spent meditating and reflecting in an ashram in the middle of Italy – that she decided to change her stage name from Natasha Bouchard (her family name) to Natasha Nouveau.
Call it what you will – a transformation, a re-imagining, a rebirth – but ultimately, it’s a creative spirit emerging from her cocoon to exhibit her true colours; an artist embracing her ideal version of herself – confident, courageous, optimistic, empowered. And at the same time paying tribute and drawing inspiration from the aesthetic and spirit of Art Nouveau - one of her favorite art movements which took place at the turn of the 20th Century.
Natasha Nouveau believes that art should be a way of life, and wants her own journey to be her ultimate work of art. Now that she’s flourishing in her newfound home with a newfound identity, her masterpiece is starting to take shape. There’s still plenty of untouched canvas, though, and what will grace it remains yet to be seen. And heard.
