Bio

The makings of a superstar can be comprised of many elements; talent, innovation, looks, ingenuity and swagger, and hot newcomer, Grammy Award winning singer/ songwriter, Nate Walka encompasses them all. Responsible for the infectious groundbreaking hits “Blame It on the Alcohol” and “Say Aah,” has ultimately christened him as the hook man of choice and has positioned him as one of the most pioneering look forward to artists of our generation.

Nate Walka has just the right ingredients that will leave his listeners anticipating more with his impending debut album A Day Late released later this year. His unique musical style offers clever and quirky lyrics, and his dynamic vocal ability is sure to captivate any audience. The catchy signature hooks on “Blame It” and “Say Aah” showcases Nate’s ability as an ingenious songwriter, so we can only anticipated what’s to come from him as an artist. Creatively and combined, this talented visionary is more than ready to become an unstoppable force in the industry.

A native of Memphis TN, Nate was raised in the community of Whitehaven home to musical legends Elvis Priestly, BB King, Isaac Hayes and Al Green. Such musical greats were influential in Nate’s eclectic style, which helped to expand his songwriting and identity as an artist across a multitude of genres including R&B, Rock, Country, Rap and Pop. Now residing in Atlanta, Nate fuses retro 80’s hip pop with the current sounds of the times adding his unique edge reminiscent to N.E.R.D and Kanye West with a 2010 spin.

As a child, Nate grew up in a musical household and sang gospel songs in choir, his uncle sung baritone and his sister sung alto. At an early age, Nate began developing a passion for writing. His mother mistook his songs for poetry and entered him in to literary competitions, winning several international poetry competitions. From very early on, Nate was showing clear signs of becoming a talented and multi-faceted artist.

In the pursuit of securing a deal, Nate released two mix tapes. The hard-hitting debut NateObama (The World Famous Super Friends Crew) and the rock/ hip-pop synthesized follow up, The Inauguration (DJ Knuckles of The Heavy Hitters), were so innovative and groundbreaking, that he was able to secure the opening act on tour with Geffen recording artist and MTV’S reality TV star, Shwayze (MTV Buzzin’). “Of all the artist I wanted to tour with, Shwayze was on the top of my list,” says Nate. “Our markets are so similar. The people who like Shwayze’s music like my stuff. It was just a blessing. We did thirty cities and I got a lot of road and show experience which taught me how to rock a crowd thoroughly.”

While on tour, Nate’s songwriting ingenuity landed him his first placement on Oscar & Grammy Award Winner, Jamie Foxx’s Intuition LP with the single “Blame It” featuring T-Pain. For fourteen weeks, “Blame It” held the #1 position on the Billboard Top 100, and broke national records, replacing Beyonces’ “Single Ladies”. Nate continued to break records by landing another placement, penning, “Say Aah” for R&B star, Trey Songz’ Ready LP. “Say Aah” peaked at #3 on the Billboard Charts and reached Gold Status, becoming Songz’ first ever single to do so.

The success of “Blame It,” “Say Aah,” and the “Blame It” sample on Kid Cudi’s “Make Her Say,” garnered Nate 5 Grammy Nominations including: Best Contemporary R&B Album (Intuition, Jamie Foxx), Best Contemporary R&B Album (Ready, Trey Songz), Best R&B Song (Blame It, Jamie Foxx), Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals (Blame It, Jamie Foxx featuring T-Pain) and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group (Make Her Say, Kid Cudi featuring Kanye West & Common).

Nate’s musical journey has led him to collaborate with some of the most talented and diverse producers in the business; Chuck Harmony, Stargate, C-Note, Bei Major, Chris Henderson, Bryan Michael Cox as well as mentor Kendrick Dean, and his ever growing demand as a writer has garnered the attention of international superstars Rihanna, Travis Barker (Blink 182), Bizarre (D12) & Tech n9ne, Jesse McCartney, Flo Rida and Lupe Fiasco.
Nate’s current electro hip hop teaser, “Heartbreaker” is gaining a lot of hype on the underground scene right now, and his buzz records “Runaway Love” and “No Sugar in My Coffee” are both innovative and edgy. When describing his sound, Nate says, “It’s very liberating. I’m doing what I want which is the main thing I want to come across. It’s like an electro-rock-hop, meaning, a hybrid of electro dance, pop and hip-hop. It has that kind of feel. Like Prince and Michael Jackson, they made it okay for whatever you were doing, because they were so outside of the box. So that’s kind of like what I want to do again because good music is good music.”

It’s been an amazing first year for Nate in the business, and asked about his burgeoning career, the enthusiastic singer/ rapper/ songwriter/ producer is ecstatic and excited about his future en
