Bio

Nathalie is of Italian-Belgian extraction and was born in Rome in 1979. She started training vocally and studied piano. She started songwriting first on guitar and later on the piano. As bilingual and having interests in foreign languages herself, Nathalie writes her lyrics in Italian, English and French. She took her first steps by singing cover songs in small live performances, then formed a band for her solo project performing in various Roman venues and clubs. She opened for many Italian artists (Marco Parente, La Crus, Max Gazzè, Cristina Donà).

INFLUENCES A wide array of artists influenced her music: Tori Amos, P.J. Harvey, Janis Joplin, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Fiona Apple, Kate Bush, Patti Smith, Ani Di Franco, Portishead, Cristina Donà, Fabrizio De André, Francesco De Gregori, Serge Reggiani, Leonard Cohen, etc. MUSIC

CONTESTS She participated in several Italian music contests and in February 2006 she won the "Premio SIAE per DEMO" and in the same year she won MArtelive competition's music section. In addition, she reached 2nd place in the "Sapienza in Music" contest, organized by La Sapienza University of Rome in July 2006. In september 2009 she won the prize "DEMO Lady's Award" in Comiso (Sicily), contest organized by the radio broadcast "DEMO", Radio 1 RAI.

RADIO, TV, COMPILATIONS Her music was played by Italian networks like RadioUno RAI, Radio Città Futura, Radio Meridiano 12 and Radio Città Aperta; RadioUno RAI also produced a Nathalie's live recording at Saxa Rubra RAI Studios in summer 2005; in 2005 and 2006 she participated in broadcasts as a poet and as a singer-songwriter (RAISAT2000, RAI FuturaTV, RAITRE); a few of her songs are included in compilations ("Fuoriscena" and "Biella Festival").

OTHER MUSICAL EXPERIENCES She sang in many cover bands (an example is SkunKover, Skunk Anansie tribute band) and in a nu-metal side project (English lyrics) called Damage Done. Being the band's lead singer and co-writer, she opened for Vision Divine and Beholder at Rome's Blackout venue, and was a runner-up in the Rock Tv Contest at the Tim-Tour 2004. She is currently involved in the band's demo cd 'Thorn'. In 2003, she played at the revue Commutazioni_003, taken place at the Giardino della Villa Comunale di Roseto degli Abruzzi near Teramo. Aside from working on her personal ongoing projects, Nathalie often collaborates with other composers and musicians in studio vocal recordings and in songwriting; she also acted in two musical theatre plays in Rome, one of which was a rendition of "Les Misérables".
