"Nathan Anderson - Singer/Songwriter"

Hard-working/gigging folk-rock tunesmith Nathan Anderson makes his most concerted effort to date for Cities 97-type airplay with "Using Dreams," his first studio CD, which he's celebrating with two shows Wednesday at the Varsity Theater (6 and 9 p.m., $5). Anderson recently signed with manager Randy Spencer, who also works with EMI-backed local band This World Fair. The disc is full of lovelorn, "Your Body Is a Wonderland"-style ballads, plus there's an ode to Anderson's musical heroes, "Invisible," featuring shout-outs to Jimmy Buffett, Led Zeppelin and even G.B. Leighton.

Bio

using dreams definition: dreams that occur in those individuals typically just coming off alcohol and/or drugs. to dream of drinking to intoxication is an inner need to escape reality or your life situation. same is true to dream of doing drugs. this also indicates a feeling of alienation and quite possibly guilt. personal note: this album is five years in the making. its origins encapsulate a time when both as a musician and a man, my fate teetered in some sort of purgatory bordering breakthrough or breakdown. while prospects and dreams were bright as always, my reality dimmed by the day. while musical concepts cultivated, my human condition deteriorated. over the next few years, my breakdown looked similar to a chronic game of red light green light. denial was like merging onto the freeway every morning on empty. in february of 2006 i chose the breakthrough instead. i let go of the wheel and accepted a gift of grace, a ride in the passenger seat. many in early recovery experience using dreams, but after completing treatment at fairview riverside in minneapolis the Lord has revealed new life, a new dream.
