Nathan Emsick

In the worst economy in more than a generation, Nathan Emsick walked out on a stable career with a large multi-nation engineering company in order to work towards a simpler, more musical existence. As an engineer, Emsick held a variety of roles related to sustainability in both the water and energy industries, before finally concluding that the modern American dream is just another Panzi scheme.

Emsick’s music speaks to the frustration of a young man in a rapidly changing world, where the powers that be are more focused on maintaining the status quo than leading us forward. At the same time, Emsick invites us to celebrate the gift that is now rather than selling the present for the future, or the future for the present.

Emsick’s shapeshifting Americana style has been refined by years of performing in clubs along the U.S. I-35 corridor while taking up residence in towns such as Ames, Iowa, Austin, Texas and Kansas City, Missouri. In 2010, the Iowa native is currently working toward the release of his first full length album while splitting his time between Denver, Colorado and a lake house outside of Kansas City, Missouri which has been converted into a production studio. A four song downloadable Ep is currently available in advance of this release.
