I'm eighteen years old, and have been rapping since I was four. I’m from a medium-sized church in the south Bronx called Salem Temple. I remember that as I was growing up, there was a festival held every summer at my church called Rap Fest. My passion for God was fused with my passion for rap as a result of these festivals. When I was eleven years old, I had the privilege of rapping in one of these festivals. I remember that I had such an awesome time that day that I decided to start writing my own songs. When I was sixteen, I entered a Gospel Rap competition that consisted of roughly five hundred contestants, and I was one of three finalists to receive a superior with honors (the highest possible rating). http://youth.ag.org/finearts/2007/faf/WebResults/Cat32.htm. I’m different from most rappers, because you’d have no idea that I have any interest in rap based upon the type of person I’ am. I’m a nerd, who happens to be very interested in sharing the Gospel with people via Rap. I’m a pastor’s grandchild, and since infancy, I’ve been exposed to the word of God. I knew a lot about God, but it wasn’t until recently -when I left home for college- that I really began to know him. The human experience can be very trying. Many individuals live a life that has been submerged in the waters of adversity. Disaster strikes ruthlessly, and often leaves its victims stunned. However, even in the midst of calamity, there is hope. There is a God who is passionately in love with his children, and longs to deliver them. I aim to share this truth in every song that I write. My music in an honest illustration of my innermost thoughts and many of the songs that I’ve written depict the struggles that I’ve encountered throughout my Christian walk. However, despite how unfavorable your circumstance might be, there is a God who can turn your mourning into dancing.
