Nathan ‘Slyde’ Petersen is a ‘virtuoso blues guitarist’ renown on the North Coast blues scene. ‘Slyde’ is an insightful and inspiring singer-song writer, performing all his own original tunes and a couple of obscure adaptations and interpretations of covers including Bukka White and Lead belly. ‘Slyde’ uses traditional and adapted guitar techniques and inspiration gathered from raw and emotionally intense early 20th century blues, jazz, folk and bluegrass musicians’ to provide his audience with a new and evocative genre of blues.
Nathan ‘Slyde’ Petersen is captivating and engaging performer with an incendiary guitar style, who will have folks’ off their seats.... moon-howlin’, foot-stompin’, thigh-slappin’ and groin-shaking to his cataclysmic performance.
Nathan’s finger picking slide guitar is performed on his steel Dolbro but he is also accompanied by an array of eclectic instruments and techniques This includes lap slide on his classic Wiesenbourn (Hawaiian guitar) and sinister yet melodic use of the classic ‘flying V’. Nathans live performances are eclectic are delivered with fervour. These shows drive the audience into a sweating frenzy.
He is currently touring the East Coast of Australia promoting and performing his guitar prowess for all to hear and enjoy. Nathan ‘Slyde’ Petersen lives his art in every facet from street performance to gigs, festivals, concerts and tuition. He has played at Blues fest, Hervey Bay ‘Save the Whale Festival’ and is a regular performer at the Beechmont Blues Stomp. He has also performed at numerous Hotels and licensed venues in and around the Northern Rivers and South East Queensland; including the Gollan Hotel Lismore, Advancetown Tavern and The Tyalgum Hotel just to name a few. He has supported acts such as Tex Perkins, Pete Murray, Hatz Fitz and Dan Sultan and is currently recording his new album.
