"Natisha Anderson is one of California's Funniest Comics"

Comedian Natisha Anderson was recently one of the finalists in the California’s Funniest Female Contest at Flappers Comedy in Burbank. Next Monday night, June 25, the vivacious, energetic comic will be the Emcee at Comics On The Spot standup comedy show at the Warehouse Restaurant in Marina del Rey. For more information, go to www.comicsonthespot.com

Natisha is a white girl living with a black lady’s name. Originally from the cornfields of Indiana, she began her performing career in the fifth grade, at the Lincoln Elementary School production of the show, “Dinosaurs”. She was known as Paleontologist #4 and fell in love with the stage as well as the great triceratops. She decided to drop the paleontologist gig, but decided to pursue her other love, acting. After transitioning from musical theatre, dance, and improvisation, she earned an Acting degree from Ball State University.

Natisha now resides in Los Angeles with her pet fish, Stability; for once she has stability in her life! She was a finalist in California’s Funniest Female Contest in 2011 as well as 2012 offering her unique point of view on fish, mermaids and other interests. She has performed with Whitney Cummings, Aisha Tyler, Sebastian and Maria Bamford. Natisha performed in a Super Bowl commercial and a Comedy Central pilot, and as far as I know still loves triceratops. "Tipton Native Joins Hot, Los Angeles Based Improvised Stand-up Show"

Los Angeles, Calif. - Natisha Anderson, a graduate of Tipton High School and past performer with Tipton Community Theatre, joins the line-up of the live Set List show today.
Set List, called the “Whose Line Is It Anyway of stand up,” is an all-improvised comedy show that is gaining much attention, with regular performers Greg Proops (“Whose Line Is It Anyway”), Dana Gould (“The Simpsons”), Rick Overton (“Willow,” “Dennis Miller Live”) and just recently added Robin Williams. The show was created by Troy Conrad ("Comedy Jesus Show") and produced by Paul Provenza (director, "The Aristocrats").

The program refers to itself as “comedy without a net,” as comics are put on the spot to make the audience laugh. Just as comics step onstage, they are given a brand new, never-before-seen "set list" of topics. Then, in front of a live audience, they perform the set list as if it is their own.

“I’m thrilled to perform with Set List,” Anderson said. “It's such an exciting show for both the audience and the comics.”

The Set List shows are being performed in Los Angeles, Montreal, Edinburgh, Australia, Chicago and San Fransisco.

Natisha regularly performs stand-up comedy throughout Los Angeles. She has appeared in national SuperBowl commercials, a Comedy Central pilot, and Bravo's reality show “Blow Out.” She placed 3rd in CA's Funniest Female Contest 2011 - out of 80 women! She was also a winner of the World Famous Comedy Store's Fresh Faces Contest 2010. Natisha will also be performing at the historic Purple Onion Theater in San Francisco this April.

"Comedy Etc: Show Recap For 02/11/2011"

Today I was sick; I was really sick. And the week had been compounded by a lot of bad news, which made me feel even worse. While I remained on site to manage the show, hosting duties were turned over to the very capable Daniel Eachus.

We started out with problems this week. The cost of booking only a few comics is that when one cancels, it stands out. Unfortunately, our headliner Luke Francis, who is one of the best LA comics I've ever watched, was in Texas. The cost of being successful is sometimes you're in demand, and in another state. It's too bad because pairing Luke with feature comics Anna Lane and Natisha Anderson, would have created one of the best shows of all time at the iCandy Cafe. Our musical guest this week was Lionel-Keone, whom I've watched at It's A Grind and the iCandy Cafe. Lionel hails from the Hawaiin Islands, and came to the mainland specifically to perform as a musician. Lionel lived up to my expectations and then some.

I have to thank everyone who helped me move stuff to my car, especially Mindy Pickel who originally made the suggestion. Thank you, I was extremely sick. In addition to our featured guests, I'd like to thank the following performers fro gracing our stage:
Johnnie Flowers
Tymon Shipp
Andy Kern
Anthony Browning
Joe Fitzgerald
Bobby Kern [And his incredibly colorful game of Hangman]
Mindy Pickel
Johnny Gold
David Ferrell
Taylor Collins **
Tim Palmer
Chris Adams
Jerry Brandt
Allan Stein
Ho-Rine [Best laugher of the night] *
Robert B. Davis *
Mic Najibi *
Chrisiana Gois
Paul Lao
Joe Braza
* First time at iCandy since the new format began.

** Of all the newcomers to the iCandy the stand-out was clearly comedian Taylor Collins. - KAS Comedy Etc. Show

"Comics on the Spot - with EMCEE Natisha Anderson"

Established in 2009, Comics on the Spot provides weekly quality comedy at the beach. It's not an ?Open Mic, and all comics have auditioned to be part of the lineup.

Standup comedy is the main show. Every once in a while, the show hosts magicians or Improv...always entertaining.

From the creator, Vicky Nissen N., "?Many comedy shows were Open Mics and not very good. I wanted to provide quality entertainment by comics who 'don't have to bring' their friends to provide an audience. For a minimal price, I want customers to enjoy a great show, great food and remember the night." - Marina Del Rey Patch

"BSU Grad to Appear in Super Bowl Commercial"

By Colleen Steffen
A small-town girl strikes out for the big city with dreams of stardom, working two jobs and waiting for her break.
It's a familiar plot line. It's also, in the case of one recent Ball State grad, a reality.
Tipton native Natisha Anderson lit out for Los Angeles after graduating BSU in 2002, and she currently works as a server and at a hotel, takes improv-comedy and voice-over classes, holds an internship, belongs to a comedy troupe and waits for her chance - which finally might have arrived.
Anderson recently landed a spot on a commercial, and not just any commercial - a McDonald's ad to run during the Super Bowl, when companies are paying up to $2.4 million for half a minute.
"Oh my gosh," said the bubbly redhead by phone last week. "I'm still kind of like, what's going on?"
Hard work is paying off, apparently......... - The Star Press

"Hoosier Stars in McDonald's Super Bowl ad"

Hoosier stars in McDonald's Super Bowl ad -- by Abe Aamidor -- Hoosiers who tune in to this Sunday's Super Bowl (6:30p.m., WXIN 59) will see at lease one Hoosier in a starring role. Tipton Native Natisha Anderson will be featured in a new McDonald's hamburger ad campaign that will debut during the game.
Anderson, a Ball State University grad, won't reveal much about the ad, but she's excited nonetheless.
"It's about a small town," she said. "I am a McDonald's employee. Not the smartest girl, it's true. I'm talking about what happened to the town, and it's a big deal."
Anderson, who now lives in Los Angeles, was flown to New York City, then driven across the rover to a town in New Jersey (she doesn't know which one) to film the ad in a real McDonald's restaurant. All speaking parts were ad-libbed, including hers.
Bill Jenkins, Anderson's former theater department teacher in Muncie, says he's not surprised that she is moving up the career ladder in Los Angeles.
"She had some struggles while she was here, " said Jenkins. "She didn't always get the parts she auditioned for. She did what an actor has to do - when you don't get the part, you need to audition more."
Jenkins compares his former pupil to Gilda Radner, one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live" who died in 1989.
Sly, quirky and irrepressible. Not cashing in on good looks, but on charm and overall appeal.
When Anderson's not serving hamburgers on screen, she works at a Los Angeles upscale restaurant to pay the bills. She was paid the union minimum for her commercial, though she could score big-time if it does well in reruns. A 30-second spot during the game costs advertisers $2.4 million this year.
The Mickey D's ad is her biggest break since she did an ad for a German pharmaceutical company last year - it's only on in Germany.
But she'll be watching TV this Sunday, just like almost everyone else. - Indianapolis Star
