Bio

Native Informant was formed by guitarist, Devon James Stewart at Syracuse University in the Fall of 2008. He wanted to create a group that could infuse many styles of music successfully; bringing with him his knowledge and experience of Jamaican. Devon is the son of keyboardist of The Skatalites, Ken Stewart. Devon first started playing with the originators of ska music, and some of the most influential and talented musicians to emerge from Jamaica in this era, when he was fourteen and continues to appear with the group in the US and Europe. He recruited great friends and roommates, Jon Hughes to play drums and Luke Berry on trombone. Devon then got online and started networking, finding Michael McNeil-Martinez and Eric Devore. The band played their first show with The Void Union and the Rubblebucket Orchestra at Funk N Waffles on September 4, 2008 under the name of "Unofficially Announced." A few lineup changes were made but has been pretty solid since the addition of bassist, Julian Morrison. With a mix of such styles as Ska, Reggae and Rocksteady with that of Fusion/Jam Rock, Hip Hop, Blues, and little bit of Psychedelia, Native Informant looks to play good music with good vibes. We look to create an atmosphere where people can escape from the mundane of everyday and pressures of success to dance and have fun. We will play with anyone making music at anytime.
