Nautilus, Born as Maynard Okereke in Austin, TX , has lived a life embedded in music, culture, and personal struggle. The combination of his West African roots and adolescent upbringing in the Northwest state of Washington, have given him many diverse influences that are clearly reflected in his music. Bursting in the music scene on the underground level, Nautilus started his early career battling competition on the streets and onstage, winning a number of local freestyle competitions. As he continued to develop, his onstage presence was taken to another level as he performed with other gifted local MC, Nisan, to form the group ASC. Opening for acts such as Blackilicous, Del, and Kool Keith, the group solidified their presence in the NW up and down the I-5 corridor from Seattle to Portland.

His recent solo efforts have taken him to new levels musically and opened many more doors of opportunity. His two mixtape releases and debut album have received great reviews and garnered much attention from his growing fan base.

NautilusMC highlights some of the best Seattle has to offer in his new debut music video. The single “Clap, Toast, Cheer� takes viewers through a tribute filled and inspiring journey. The song represents the strength and loyalty that's been instilled in him and is a dedication to anyone that's supported you in life and brought you to where you are.

NautilusMC has been creating a buzz in the Northwest scene for years and has laid down a foundation with many other prominent local artists from Portland to Seattle. After a couple year hiatus from the music scene, the release of his new single and upcoming project has propelled him back to the forefront and provided him with the material necessary to take the local and national scene by storm.
