My Bio

Born Nicole Marie Mitchell in Brooklyn, NY, N.Cole developed a love for music at an early age. All through elementary school she was apart of the performing arts and at home she would take popular songs and rewrite the lyrics. When she joined the First Baptist Church of Coney Island with her mother she realized that she could take singing more seriously, from that point she would sing at the drop of a hat anytime, any place, anywhere. Soon after hearing The Sheepshead Bay High School gospel choir in a junior high school assembly she decided that, that is the school she needed to be in just to sing in that choir. With the choir she traveled the city singing in venues like Medgar Evers College and City Hall, gospel choir was the only class she was interested in so after some time she decided to transfer to Brooklyn College Academy. During this time she was introduced to a woman named Anna Lopez who had a production going on with a mixture of singing, dancing, and fashion showcase. N. Cole was one of the featured singers and sang in Spanish clubs through out New York like Club LaMovida. Soon after enrolling Brooklyn College Academy she met 4 girls and formed the group Shades of Nubian. Shades of Nubian would perform in school talent shows and for other school functions. When one member left, N.Cole and the other 2 girls kept going as Shades of Innocence. Shades of Innocence would go on and do events like Crazy Sam’s Talent show on video music box and Employee Recognition day for the Human Resources Department. After learning that one of the girls wasn’t really into singing Shades of Innocence was down to 2, N. Cole and Rozetta Marie. These two would go on and perform as a duet in places like The Nuyorican Poets Cafe, The Wishco Manor, block parties, and church functions. Then Rozetta announced that she didn’t want to sing R & B she wanted to go strictly gospel. Starting all over alone N. Cole took some time from singing to figure what the next move would be. During this time she was introduced to Kevin Byrd who was trying to get a band together and she joined on as a background singer. From there she met “Uncle Jay” who loved the power in her voice and would later ask her to join his band after Kevin’s project didn’t work out. In between N. Cole would still be writing lyrics and recording whenever she got the chance. When “Uncle Jay’s” band didn’t work out she was quickly snatched up by another local band called “L.I.G”(Love Is God) and with “L.I.G.” N.Cole would get back into singing in little clubs around N.Y.C like Club Amarachi and Goldies. Still willing to sing at the drop of a hat N. Cole and L.I.G. perform at other functions like private parties and city gatherings. You can also catch up with N.Cole doing fashion shows as well. Now that she has moved to Philly she is trying to get things moving as a solo artist so look out for her cause she is coming!
