Neal Mathews

Neal Mathews (born November 7th 1983 in Tasmania, Australia) Mathews first picked up the guitar at age 10 after receiving a ¾ guitar for his birthday. Ever since that first time of making music he has not put the guitar down. He has always as long as he can remember dreamt of being a professional musician. His first performance in front of a large crowd was at the age of 13 for a school production. He can still to this day remember the buzz of the live performance from that small performing arts centre. He began to write songs at the age of just 13 but never really had the chance to play them to people until later on. He first recorded these songs on a tape deck at home, fascinated that he had created a song by himself. He kept on recording and writing new songs in the same way. He then started to play in various bands playing the guitar and gaining experience playing live for the first time. Continuing this through his school years created a longing and yearning to become a musician. At the age of 18 Neal then decided to start an electrical apprenticeship and started to play in the state youth big band. For the next years he strived more and more to play music and create his own sound that would be distinctly his. This sound started forming. At the age of 22 he completed his apprenticeship as an electrician and decided that it was now time to follow the life long dream. He then travelled to Europe and started his solo career on the streets of Germany and Ireland busking and really starting to define his writing technique, with great response from passers by. From here he started to really get a taste for solo live performance. Mathews hit London and for the first time started performing in pubs and clubs with great reception from crowds, playing for various Promoters giving him great feedback and asking him to play more. Then he finally made his first Professional studio recording at Cave productions. There recording his first single “This is My Life”. This song is sung with conviction about life and where the journey heads. With catchy vocal layering this song is captivating peoples minds. Its deep lyrics impact in comparison with some frivolous pop rock of today. Neal is determined to relay his messages from life in the only way he knows, through music…
