Nectar

New York City, New York, USA
BandRockSinger/Songwriter

Nectar’s music will nourish the soul. Hauntingly beautiful, brazenly rebellious fusion of rock, pop, and acoustic folk.

Biography

Nectar was formed when guitarist Jean-Paul Le Du dared his little sister, Nathalie, to sing since she was so sure she could do better. Her voice, his guitar and their sibling rivalry proved a potent combination. The brother-and-sister duo grew into Nectar after adding Argentinian-born Ricardo Ponce on bass, Paul Cesario on drums, and William Burgaleta on keys.

Nectar's music is at once edgy and dreamy--an enigmatic fusion of melodic styles over aggressive bass and drum. They are energizing audiences with their intensity and sound in such venues as Googie's Lounge, The Bitter End, Kenny's Castaway, The Baggott Inn, and Trash Bar.

Their recent release, Jump the Fence, busts genres with poignant lyrics, addictive melodies, and dramatic harmonies. They are currently working on an EP follow up.

Lyrics

Nothing Lost

Written By: Nathalie Le Du

Born of perspective and
Trapped by convention
The world was spelt out and
I was hunger-bound

I pray that maybe your
Memory will leave me, what
Can be done now, what
Can be done now

I dreamt you stayed and
I dreamt the desperate
Blind man’s touch
I was not afraid, I
Walked straight to the flame
A shadow of the light
You were a wilderness, so
Strange and beautiful, I
Put my hands around you
Just to know how it burns

Nothing gained
And nothing lost

I lost my self in the
crush of translation, the
lines were spoken, the
ground was broken

My words are pregnant with
Hope-filled intentions, what
Can be done now, what
Can be done now

I dreamt you stayed and
I dreamt the desperate
Blind man’s touch
I was not afraid, I
Walked straight to the flame
A shadow of the light
You were a wilderness, so
Strange and beautiful, I
Put my hands around you
Just to know how it burns

Nothing gained
And nothing lost

I dreamt you stayed and
I dreamt the desperate
Blind man’s touch
I was not afraid, I
Walked straight to the flame
A shadow of the light
You were a wilderness, so
Strange and beautiful, I
Put my hands around you
Just to know how it burns

Nothing gained
And nothing lost

8th Street Room

Written By: Nathalie Le Du

8th Street Room
Sun in my bed
6 string mood
Song in my head

I was broken but now I should be fixed
I’ve got these parts I don’t know what to do with
You’ve been lost, I’ve been found in the emptiness
Miles and miles I keep tightening the tourniquet

You are meaning
You are meaning
Less
You are meaning
You are meaning
Less

I was hopeless but now I’m ambivalent
I’ve got this heart I don’t know what to do with
You were religion, such ambition, salvation in pain
Prayers and Prayers, I keep fighting to live with it

I’ll learn, I’ll learn
To fly as I fall
I’ll learn, I’ll learn

I’ll learn, I’ll learn
To fly as I fall
I’ll learn, I’ll learn

I was broken but now I should be fixed
I’ve got these parts I don’t know what to do with
You’ve been lost, I’ve been found in the emptiness
Miles and miles I keep tightening the tourniquet

You are meaning
You are meaning
Less

You are meaning
You are meaning
Less

I’ll learn, I’ll learn
To fly as I fall
I’ll learn, I’ll learn

I’ll learn, I’ll learn
To fly as I fall
I’ll learn, I’ll learn

I’ll learn, I’ll learn
To fly as I fall
I’ll learn, I’ll learn

I’ll learn, I’ll learn
To fly as I fall
I’ll learn, I’ll learn

Pleasure Principle

Written By: Jean-Paul Le Du

Tell me your wants, tell me your wishes
And I’ll see what I can do
Tell me your dreams and how delicious
It could be if I’m with you
Tell me your needs, tell me your passions
I’ll conform to the picture you drew
I’m not what you want, not what you imagined
So move on to something new

I’m not your pleasure principle
Your joy refill, I won’t perform at will
I’m not your school boy fantasy,
your high school tease who’ll do whatever you please

You wanna go ahead and treat me bad
Go on
You wanna go ahead and treat me bad
Go on
To another drunken fool intoxicated by the things you do
Go orchestrate a love that won’t be true like I was for you

Tell me you’re sad, tell me that your sleepless
Ever since I parted with you
Tell me you’re mad, you just want one sweet kiss
Like I wanted it from you
Tell me you wish that we could go back to start
Before we went and broke eachothers’ heart
Before we go and forget what we got
We can do it again
We can give it one more shot

I’m not your pleasure principle
Your prozac pill or empty calendar fill
I’m not your flavor of the year,
your side career to instill your fear

You wanna go ahead and treat me bad
Go on
You wanna go ahead and treat me bad
Go on
To another drunken fool intoxicated by the things you do
Go syndicate a love that won’t be true like I was for you

It’s two a.m. and I’ve got your stirring
Deep inside my soul
I’m just a man who finds it disturbing
It’s all out of my control
I wish you’d take my hand
I wish you’d understand
It’s not about your pride
You know I’m on your side
I know that I am strong
And I can carry on
But I want it with you
Oh yes, I wanted it with you

You’re not my pleasure principle
My winter flame, I guess you’d say the same—oh no
I didn’t try to treat you mean
I know you had your dream
Sometimes it’s just not meant to be

Didn’t want to go ahead and treat you bad
Oh no
Didn’t want to go ahead and treat you bad
Oh no

But we’re two hopeless fools
Intoxicated by the things we do
And we created what we can’t undo
So I guess that it’s through

She gave me love
She gave me love
She gave me love
She gave me love

You wanna go ahead and treat me bad go on
Didn’t want to go ahead and treat you bad
You wanna go ahead and treat me bad go on
Didn’t want to go ahead and treat you bad

Oh no, Oh no, Oh no, Oh no
