""Dark Horse" Review"

"Ned Van Go frames the hard lines of blue collar America with a rock aesthetic drawing in strands of folk, country, and punk influence punctuating not only the working man’s view, but the thinking man’s view." - Unknown

""The Alternate Root" Review"

"Ned Van Go hold their southern pride closely to their sheepstained trousers, but you get the feeling the vehemence in the song is directed more at their betterthan- you neighbors than those across the Mason- Dixon line. Drive-By Truckers have made a career of taking the back the south’s good name. Ned Van Go add themselves to the list of southern bands proud of their heritage and that take their roots and light a fire with all the rock they can find." - Danny MacCloskey

""High Octane Magazine" Review"

The album is short on finesse and long on kick ass. Just like rock n’ roll should be.Producer Michael Webb (John Fogerty, Poco, and Gary Allan) keeps the mix raw and minimal. Their booking contract should contain a standard indemnity clause in the vein of “Book this band at your own risk. They may burn your venue to the ground.” Sign here please:__________________ - Michael Rampa

""FAME" Magazine"

"Lost in the Trouble is as much swaggery swozzled good times as it is driving kick-ass rock and roll...The disc in whole has much in common with a broad swath of Americana musics old and new without ever ending up quite like any of them. Grows on ya like a motherfucker, too." - Mark Tucker

""M Music and Musicians" Magazine"

Carrying on the proud tradition of Southern Culture on the Skids, the Drive-By Truckers, and any country band that has dared to poke fun at Dixie living...At least Hill and the gang have booze—romanticized on “Drunk Like Shane MacGowan” (and elsewhere)—and an outlet for their deceptively smart honky-tonk grumbling. - Unknown

"Associated Press Review"

"Ned Van Go’s fifth album makes a strong case that they deserve a wider audience. While the band can rock like Ned Zeppelin or Ned Van Halen, the Van Gos like their twang too, and play with a cohesion befitting a group that has spent lots of time together in a van." - Steven Wine

"FM Radio 2/Macedonia"

Ned Hill is mastermind behind this great band. He's a singer/songwriter in the best sense of the word, he writes beautiful sound vignettes based on his experience, evocative music that occasionaly borrow ideas from various sources, Dylan comes to mind. Ned's storytelling is expressive, you feel you can trust this guy and all the way his band cooks effortlesly behind him. Excellent stuff. Vasja Ivanovski-94.1 FM RADIO 2-Macedonia

"Heartbroke City"

Ned Van Go are roots rockers from East Nashville, Tennessee. They blend rock, folk, bluegrass and all sorts of music so seamlessly it reminds me of Cherry Coke. You’re not sure where one flavor ends and the other begins, but it sure is tasty. Nine originals and two covers, their songs are working man anthems. Ned Hill’s lyrics explore the struggles shared by people who are living the American nightmare. Sharing problems with millions of people across this nation and around the world. These songs are universal.
The cover of Tom T. Hall’s, “Me And Jesus” is a fabulous rockin’ version. “Save Me From This World (A Prison Song)”, is a poignant song about an innocent man serving time in prison. “Mountain Top Removal” is a song that tells about the exploitation of the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. “One More Round” puts the blame of a broken relationship squarely on his own shoulders. These are great songs about everyday life. On those days when you feel bad about your life, listen to “Heartbroke City”. It won’t make you forget about your troubles, but you sure won’t feel alone.

"Ned Van Go"

Don’t assume that, because nedvango.com currently looks like a corporate Japanese website, that indicates some drastic change in ethnic direction for Ned Van Go the band. Generally speaking, their latest, Heartbreak City, still works a rough-around-the-edges, roots-rock bar-band sound like their first three albums. Only this time there’s a tad less power-pop spring in their steps (thankfully, there’s still plenty) and noticeably more Appalachian folk influence by way of ballads, fiddle, clawhammer banjo and mountain references. Ned Hill—founder, front man, primary songwriter and the possessor of a wiry everyman yelp—also took a break from tongue-in-cheek hillbilly novelty songs like “Death By Polygamy,” turning instead to slightly more sober assessments of environmental destruction (“Mountain Top Removal”) and hometown respect (“Oh, Nashville, you never liked us much / Oh Nashville, we’re your bastard sons”). They recorded an amped-up rockabilly version of a great Tom T. Hall song. What’s not to like? - Nashville Scene

Bio

With the addition of guitarist Bob Grant, formerly known for his work with bluegrass vanguard the Bad Livers and punk rock trio Losers Beat Winners, Ned Van Go is poised to breakthrough with their 5th CD “Lost in the Trouble”. Produced by Michael Webb whose playing credits include John Fogerty, Gary Allan, and Poco (among others) and whose production notables include Scott Miller and Poco, “Lost in the Trouble” promises to be NVG’s most explosive, powerful CD to date. Add guest appearances by Dan Baird (Georgia Satellites), Warner Hodges (Jason and the Scorchers), Robert Kearns (Bottle Rockets and Lynyrd Skynyrd), and Stacie Collins and you’ve got the icing on the rock’n’roll cake! The simple, poignant, blue collar music and lyrics of Ned Hill are again at the forefront of this record. Taking on topics of southern misplaced pride, drunkenness and redemption, crystal meth, murder and busted relationships, NVG again bridges the gap between rock, country, bluegrass, and punk. Held down again by the hard working, powerful rhythm section of brothers Reggie and Viva Becker (drums and bass respectively), the NVG ride stays steady and true over the hill and down in the holler. So jump in and hold on to your shakes, it’s the best ride yet!
NVG has been played by independent radio stations from coast to coast and all over the world-18 different countries, 19 stations alone in Australia, 6 in the Netherlands. Their last record "Heartbroke City" reached #3 on the "Roots Rock Radio Airplay Chart". NVG's music stands out because it can strike you as heartfelt, mean, raunchy and lovable all at once, and that's just plain hard to pull off!

The new record,"Lost In The Trouble", is done and ready to be duplicated. Thanks to Michael Webb for all his hard work in producing, engineering, and mixing this record. Also, a big thanks to Bob Toevs for the lay out and design. Ned Van Go is Ned Hill, Bob Grant, Reggie Las Vegas, and Viva Zapata. Guest players on this record include Dan Baird, Warner Hodges, Michael Webb, Robert Kearns, Stascie Collins, Ward Stout, and Johnny Foodstamp! Here are the song titles:

Hog Rock Road
Poor White Trash Southern Reputation Blues
Where Ya Gone Virginia
1000 Dollar Car
Lost In The Trouble
Drunk Like Shane MacGowan
Pickaxe, Shovel, and Dynamite
Copper Bluegrass
Take Ya Home
Last Factory Song
Moon Shine On You

See ya in the coming year!

TO THE STUDIO WE GO!
POSTED BY NED HILL
We began recording our 5th studio CD. We've narrowed the songs pretty much and look forward to seeing how it's going to come out. There's always surprises. Songs you thought were going to be cool just kinda lay there and others you thought were mediocre take on a life of their own. Hopefully we'll have more of the latter. It is yet to be titled but we're starting to float around some ideas. Here are some of the song titles we're working on:
Copper Bluegrass
Pickaxe, Shovel, and Dynamite
Take Ya Home
Hog Rock Road
Poor White Trash Southern Reputation Blues
Where Ya Gone Virginia?
Drunk Like Shane McGowan
Lost In The Trouble
My Last Factory Song
Moon Shine On You
$1000 Car (Bottle Rockets)
and a few others...

HEARTBROKE CITY
This ragged crew of small town rockers is back with their 4th release-“Heartbroke City”. Blending rock, folk, and mountain music, “Heartbroke City” is a record that reeks of angst, bleeds of injustice and heartbreak, and screams for salvation. Inspired by the simple, poignant struggles of the everyman, these are working class songs from a working class band living in a disaffected, commercialized world.

"Heartbroke City" reaches #3 on The Roots Rock Radio Airplay Chart!

"Heartbroke City" stays 28 straight weeks on the Top 50 Roots Rock Radio Airplay Chart!
