Ethereal low-fi lullabies and symphonic sagas of battles won, souls sucked in, and hands held up in surrender.

Needle's debut CD, Songs Your Mother Never Sang You, blends Steve Beck's low-fi minimalist arrangements with Julie Cornett's collection of lullabies and symphonic sagas. The CD is the product of musical ideas and experimentation under the influence of green tea and red wine. Occasionally Christine Banks would stop by and add a touch of spice with her violin.

Recently featured on NPR, Needle strives for honesty in its music, keeping where possible early takes marked by inspiration. Acoustic guitars and distortion, analog synthesizers, old time pianos along with toy xylophones and a cocktail drum helped shape these songs of battles won, souls sucked in, and hands held up in surrender. Included on the CD is a dreamlike remake of Neil Young's classic hit "Helpless".

It's No Secret

Written By: Needle

It’s the night that you lost your friend in the new house in the back room.
You overdosed on grief that was given to you on the night shift.
It’s no secret that I love you.
I do.

I lost hundreds of my best years in the shower in the trashcan.
It’s no secret that I’m sorry. It’s no secret that I love you.
I do.

Black Holes

Written By: Needle

Think about black holes and solar substance.
White dwarves and red giants.
I escape the warm vibrations and I run as fast as I can.

I swirl around your world. I am the sand in your pearl.
With the dust at my command.

My heart beats on forever even when I’m dead and gone.
We could circle the stars. We could be half way to Mars.
We could be together again.

You close your eyes to see.
You left your world behind not me.
My life unpeeled.
Your cries reveal.

You killed the past for me.
You gave me nothing back.
My world still moves.
My life still breathes.

We drift for hours.
We drift for hours.
We drift for hours.

You shout it out your name
you never say it back
So shout it out
Shout it out
