VH-1, SF Bay Guardian, SF Weekly, Sacramento Bee, Spunk Magazine, Bam, The Examiner, KTVU Channel 1, KALX FM

Quotes:
*Impossibly photogenic, radiant and earthy. THe musician with the superstar looks and a pwerful, moving voice that suggests and angrier more soulful Joni Mitchell* -- Sacramento Bee

*When She sings, the sounds of her many influences (Nina Simone, Joan Armatrading, Joni Mitchell) confirm the "dont-use-me-pal" strength of her own lyrics* -- SF weekly

*Jones moves her voice from the sultry, soft-pop delivery of "" to the acoustic phrasings of "Candyland"* -- San Francisco Chronical

*Neither and A&R creation nor a self-starter with a trust fund, she's the real thing* --San Franscisco Bay Guardian

Bio

NEWS, 10-2002: Nef's Video Release Party was a huge smash..."Alphabet City" - the VIDEO was debuted to an audience of 100 in he liviingroom before her landmark appearance at LadyFest-East at the Williamsburg Publik House last night. The Festival which benefited the Girl's Club of NYC's Lower East Side (aka "Alphabet City") was an appropriate charity for Nef to support, as that is what the video was about, where Nef grew up and her mother still teaches to this day!

Nefertiti Jones' songs are depicted as combining the new voice of Dido, the angst of Joan Jett and the in-your-face lyrics of Alanis Morrisette. She has been compared to urban-folk/soul artist India.Arie with a touch of rock. Her achievements to date have been staggering. Most recently, Nef was selected as the TOP 50 qualifiers in the American Music Awards' New Music Award contest.

Having established herself as a popular, rising artist on the West Coast over the past two years, Nef has come back to her roots in her hometown, NYC, and is taking the Big Apple by storm! In early 2001, Nef decided to return for good to her roots of NYC - where she attended the internationally acclaimed LaGurardia High School of Music and Art, canonized in the movie and popular TV series, "Fame" - for inspiration, which produced her latest commercial release -- appropriately titled, HERE AND NOW - featuring the explosive, "Minefield" and the haunting "Lisa Marie" and the welcoming "Jump In". The album ends on a more hard-hitting note with "Blue Lotus", a crafty tune that goes for the jugular and never lets go. Nef is currently writing her next album and is performing 7 new songs she’s already completed, three (3) tracks produced Grammy-winner, Steve Addabbo (Shawn Colvin, Suzanne Vega), Tommy Berns (Billy Joel), Dave Biegle (Natalie Imbruglia, Puracane), Alfredo Scotti (Lucy Woodward) and others. Nef is now headed into the studio with re-known guitarist, Paul Pesco (Madonna, Whitney Hoston)! Look for the recording in early [1st Qtr] 2002.

Nef regularly plays the usual NYC haunts, such as Joe's Pub, Brownie's, The Cutting Room, Arlene Grocery and the Bitter End. Nefertiti performed at the Atlantis Music Conference 2001 and 2002 and three years-running at CMJ. Nef packed her first gig of 2002 at Brownie’s (now closed) on January 25th to on-lookers Ann Bancroft and Phil Spector! and has been performing special industry showcases. At Continental in Feburary, she debuted her newest hits, grabbing the attention of the many industry reps out to see her that night and in September before lending her support to LadyFest*East in Brooklyn, NY (supporting local-area Girls Club of Lower East Side where Nef grew up and her mother still teaches), she debuted the accompanying video (produced by Tchad) to her latest smash “Alphabet City”. Nef has been touring all over NY-area region performing at Cazenovia College's Jazz in Caz. Nef followed this as part of the NYRocks.com festival in NYC at Arlene Grocery on October 5th, which aired on Manhattan Ch. 35 on October 14. Nef will be performing a full-band show next with Essence on October 29th, 9pm, at The Cutting Room followed by a solo return to Cazenovia College on November 13th and select performances through the 16th.

Nef's most notable success has been her magnificently radiant song, "Scream", landing her a main-stage performance at the 1998 Lilith Fair in Portland and making her a finalist in the national songwriters' contest that won her a spot on VH-1 and a myriad of newspaper and magazine interviews.
