Biography

Neill Bell is an independent singer/songwriter originally from North Carolina, but makes his home in Chicago. As a writer and musician, Neill always illustrates compelling personality, emotion, and ability. As a singer, Neill exhibits an obviously convincing enticement to his audience with strong passion. He plays all the instruments, sings, and produces his albums. His influences range from core songwriters such as Ryan Adams, Neil Finn, and Jay Farrar to pioneers of rock-soul Otis Redding and Sam Cooke. There are also resemblances in poetic lyrics and emotions of Adam Duritz and Damien Rice. This breeds a wide range of writing styles and sounds that keep things interesting and soulful. The emotion always seems to be the important element in his songs. It's off-the-beaten-path pop without all the drawbacks of the mainstream. Since recording and producing his first album at the age of 17, Neill has released 6 albums along with some singles all showing signs of growth and experimentation

Lyrics

Tall Grass

Written By: Neill Bell

Memories, they rush through me as I run through the tall grass
And I dream as I fall asleep, as I lie in the tall grass.
I will Run, up to my knees in hay, and I will run away, I will run away.

She's watching from the window pane, and green she'll watch it grow, I guess I'll go play......

In the rain, I was making love.
A slight pain, excuse me did you fall?
Sleep away, are feeling down?
In the fall, I'm sorry I missed your call.

All the ducks are swimming through the stream, as I sit in the tall grass. And all these monsters keep flying around me, as I smoke in the tall grass.
And I will smile for heaven's sake. I will smile, smile today.

She's watching from the window pane, green she'll watch it grow, so I guess I'll go play.

In the rain, I was making love.
A Slight pain, excuse me did you fall?
Sleep away, are you feeling down?
In the fall, I'm sorry I missed your call. Oh in the fall, I'm sorry I missed your call.

We seek the fire, and touch the flame.
It burns the bridge which holds your name.
And so you'll play with the ghosts of your past.
As I lie in the tall grass.

Rain

Written By: Neill Bell

I just wanted to thank you, for being you.
You can do what you want to do, you can say what you want to say, but please, don't you ever go away.

Cause your smile is like the sunshine, When I'm stuck in the rain.
And I never feel the pain, when I'm surrounded by shame.
And your eyes, they light my way when I'm lost in the dark.
Just standing beside you makes me fall, and it's all for you.

Cause your touch is like rain.
And when you are feeling down, I'm going to lift you off the ground.
And 'm going to do everything I can, for you dear.

And I just wanted to thank you, for basically tying my shoes.
You can do what you want to do, you can say what you want to say, just please remember.....

Oh when the clouds roll in, well you know I'll be smiling.

Cause your touch is like rain.
When you're feeling down, I'm going to keep you off the ground.
And I promise to make it worth all the while.

And your touch is like rain.
So, when your feeling down, I'm going to keep you off the ground.
An I will decorate my mind with sweet thoughts.

Unimpressed

Written By: Neill Bell

I am amazed at just how unimpressed you are by me.

Baby.....Don't run away from me....
Well, I'm so amazed at just how unimpressed you are by me.
Well, it seems the king has lost his queen.
And it's your smile that makes my world go 'round.....

Too bad a song can't change your mind. Or I'd be a lucky man.
Too bad a song can't change your mind, or I'd be holding you. Yeah.....
Or I'd be holding you.

Well, I sit here in my lonely room discussing all my dreams with my wall.
And in my face I see your ghost and I just want you to breathe it in, take it all.... oh my...yeah

Too bad a song can't change your mind.
Or I'd be happy all the time.
Too bad you're unimpressed with me, or Id be holding you.

Everything

Written By: Neill Bell

Screams of silence cascade between the bells from the train on the Kinzie bridge.
There a man claims he stopped the world at 3am.
Of course no one believes him
(chorus)
So, I hear it's a dream, far worse than it seems. And if you want to shake me down, then I'll be fair. And I'll tell you everything.

In the time there, we sang love songs in spring and you came to me from the water's edge....in a boat from the fog.
Skipping summer to fall
(Chorus)

(Bridge):
Don't ask rain to fall...
If it's in your saving grace at all

(Break)

(Chorus repeats)
