"review of "August Sun""

August Sun - by Neil Traynor. Mix a high voice that sounds eerily similar to Ken Sharp's voice and tons of great chiming Rickenbacker 12-string riffs, and you've got a 2003 release that is overdue for pop enthusiasts' attention! Every track features the kind of jangly guitars we've come to expect from Jeremy, Herb Eimerman … and Ken Sharp. My favorite songs are "Sarah," "I Want To Tell The Whole World" and "I Love Only You."

"Review For "AUGUST SUN" cd"

Solid Harrison/Byrds/Pet sounds from Toronto based Neil Traynor. Neil was chief, cook and bottle washer here, and if this one is any indication, he has a bright future ahead of him. Sunshine-pop and folk-rock fans should source this one out. Try Neil at his website -

"Fan Letter"

Text of a fan letter written in response to Neil Traynor’s appearance in Baltimore:

I saw you at the IPO in Baltimore. You guys were great! An “undiscovered wonder” indeed. I have since heard “AUGUST SUN”. “I Know”, “Tomorrow” and “Inside Your Heart” have to be the best 3 songs in-a-row on any recent CD or record. Add “Sterling Says” and it’s 4 catchy, singable tunes. Love ‘em.……Let me repeat, you guys were great! With you in the pop future, Today is going to be just Great. Yeah! YEAH! Yeah!

Your new CD “AUGUST SUN” truly confirmed my belief that you are one of the finest songwriters I’ve ever known. “Sarah” is amazing, reminds me of Chris Bell.” - Chris Cunnane (A.k.a. "Splendid folk/acoustic pop, Fans of jangle guitar pop take note!"

Neil is a very talented musician! I have been listening to this release for over a year now and still find it extremely exciting. The music is hauntingly beautiful and will remain in your head long after the disc stops spinning. Great melodies. Favorites are Went To Waste Away, Sarah, Keep Faith, Stering Says, I Know, Oh!You! and my favorite, the title track, August Sun. This is a real keeper. Beatles & Byrds fans should be all over this one. Neil - more please of where these came from. - Keith Cook

Feeling a bit camera shy

Hello there, my name, as my mother and my birth cirtificate tell me, is Neil Traynor. I have played in my share of groups, L.S.Tea and The Toppermost to name twelve, before deciding to go it alone. I've just made, he said humbly, a fantastic solo lp/cd/ edison cylender called August Sun, playing and singing all the parts myself. I then put together my fantastic backing band The Emergency Broadcast System so I could perform it live. My influences are vast-The Beatles (the reason I became a musician) The Byrds, The Beach Boys, The Kinks, Badfinger, Big Star,The Zombies, The Who, The Small Faces, Love, Buffalo Springfield, Nick Drake, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Peter Gabriel era Genesis among so so many others. Live, we are a powerhouse. Giving of an incredible energy, yet a sublty not too many can match
