Bio
Formed in spring 2011, NEK Trio is a group of three Edmonton musicians that fuze jazz with modern music such as hip hop, latin and funk. These young men experiment with melodies to establish a group of sounds that will please the ear. Dean Kheroufi on bass and Ross Nicoll on piano, produce an enchanting harmony, while Connor Ellinger on drums provides the backbone to a rhythm that will encourage you to follow!
Nicoll, Ellinger and Kheroufi connected through the music they love and mutual friends. When they got together to play they had a immediate connection and knew right away they had something special. This young group finds inspiration from the music of Robert Glasper, Bill Evans, Janek Gwizdala, The Roots, Radiohead, BADBADNOTGOOD, Avishai Cohen and many others. They’ve played in various theaters, halls, restaurants and showcases in the Edmonton area and garner rave reviews from everyone who hears them.
NEK Trio has been working with Rhea March Music and have been involved in masterclasses lead by various musicians like Robert Glasper, Joe Sanders, John Stetch and more.So catch a set of original jazz and get buck with NEK Trio.
