"Our Favorite Local Releases of 2011"

Holy shit, rockabilly is fun, and Neoga Blacksmith does it really well while they also tackle all the best parts of murder ballads and southern alt/folk rock. Blasting some southern charm to CU’s music scene, the group definitely pulls out the bigguns on its debut. The rhythms are catchy, the musicianship is a force to be reckoned with and it’s super easy to dance to, especially with that “boogie-woogie” piano. And it seemed to have come out of nowhere. From now on, I’m definitely looking out for what this bunch does next. —AB - Buzz Weekly

"Neoga Blacksmith Tonight"

"We aren’t totally sure if one of the members is actually a blacksmith from Neoga or knows a blacksmith living in Neoga or any combination of the two. We don’t really care. We are falling in love with their Old West inspired country punk pop tunes." - Smilepolitely.com

Bio

Neoga Blacksmith was conceived in a tavern, born in a barn, and resides currently in a non-descript garage tucked into the armpit of I-72. Since 2007, the group's multiple songwriters and multi-instrumentalists have contributed to a unique brand of alternative-country - often described as a mix of grunge, blues, rockabilly, folk, psychedelic - lost in nostalgia for everything great about 20th century American music.

Over the years, Neoga Blacksmith has performed countless shows in crowded (and empty) bar rooms, and has earned spots performing in the Pygmalion Music Festival and Summer Camp Music Festival. In 2011, with two EPs under their belt, they self-produced and released their debut full-length album, which was named one of Buzz Magazine's "Favorite Local Releases of the Year". They are currently on track to produce a follow-up album in the second half of 2012.
