Neon and the Meate Dreams

Formed in early 2013 to breathe some electric fire into the whimsical, charming tunes of guitarist/vocalist Simon Dobri, Neon and the Meate Dreams combines a lyrical approach to songwriting with an It's-All-Happening-Right-Now booty shaking improvisational intensity and laughing stoned avant-garde sensibilities. Combining Simon's irrepressible wit, bassist/vocalist Zach Clark's inventive melodicism, and original drummer Ed Scrimger's never ending cheshire grin, Neon and the Meate Dreams played shows where the birds roam and uncooked creatures of the deep are served wrapped in rice and seaweed for a small but appreciative crowd.

When Montreal's magnetism pulling on Ed's heart strings became irresistible, multi-instrumentalist whiz-kid Ian McKeown stepped up to the plate and brought a new muscular flexibility to the Neon boys' potent brew. With time came new, more collaborative approaches to their song craft and the longer, headier results are sure to put a bemused grin on the faces of the stoned and unstoned alike. As the boys of Neon and the Meate Dreams round the corner into their second year of existence fresh off recording their first slate of demos, the future looks bright and composed of vibrantly coloured, faintly bird-like glass structures resting on the supple breasts of virgin dreamweaver oscilloscope saleswomen.
