Bio

Neon is one of Atlanta's most innovative and fresh new groups. With a style all their own, the duo takes R&B to another level; they push the envelope not only musically but stylistically as well. The group's rapper, Jazz, is known for being a trend setter, and Tashi, the singer, has a smooth, sexy style that no one can compete with! Jasmin "Jazz" Henderson was born on April 22, 1986 in College Park, Georgia. As a child she was always moving and participated in many activities such as: softball, basketball, track, cheer-leading, and dance. Since the age of four Jazz loved to entertain. She was told constantly by those around her that she was "more than just a dancer," she was "a performer." Jazz has always been very passionate about being herself and inspiring the people around her to do the same. She regularly thinks outside of the box, not scared of being the center of attention. Her rap career began in 2008 when a school friend approached her about forming a female group that consisted of rapping, singing, and dancing. Even though that group opportunity did not work out her interest in making music never faded! Tashi Mincey was born on July 14, 1988 in Albany, Georgia. Growing up her family was always an important part of her life, and they always pushed her to do what she loved. Tashi started off singing and dancing at a very young age. She participated in her church's youth choir and danced in many different genres like: tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop, belly dancing, and stepping. Tashi always knew that she had a unique voice but, being the comedian she is, never took singing very seriously. With Albany being such a small town it was inevitable that Jazz and Tashi would run into each other while Jazz was attending Albany State University. They were both avid dancers, and related to each other because of it. They became acquainted in Albany and kept in touch. Tashi eventually moved to Atlanta, Georgia in order to attend school. So when Jazz was asked to choreograph the Justice Overall "Keep it 100" video she asked Tashi to be one of the dancers. They instantly clicked, and their growing connection gave Jazz an idea. She remembered hearing Tashi "play" sing all the time and could tell she had a beautiful voice. So Jazz came up with the idea to form a female duo and told Justice Overall her idea. She asked Tashi if she was interested in being apart of the journey. Tashi agreed and Justice Overall, believing in the girls so much, became their manager. The rest is history in the making!
